- EnochLight9 de março de 2025"Buck Privates" is probably one of my all-time favorite Abbott & Costello films ("One Night in the Tropics" being the other), featuring the duo when they were absolutely at the top of their game. Featuring the superb Andrew Sisters in one of the best musical bits in 1940's film history, it's just a blast to watch. If you're new to Abbott & Costello, this film is a must-watch. Unlike Charlie Chaplin's 1940 brilliant "The Great Dictator", the boys stay away from being political and, in the end, make an honest US military propaganda film. The comedy is perfect, the musical bits are legendary (seriously - The Andrews Sisters forever made me fall in love with a woman in uniform!), and the story plot is solid. Highly recommended!

Bud and Lou enlist in the army in order to escape being hauled off to jail, and soon find themselves in basic training. To their dismay, the company's drill instructor is none other than the cop who was all set to run them off to the hoosegow in the first place! The boys end up having a whale of a time getting under the skin of their humourless nemesis.
