But when he moves into an apartment building with an odd, lively array of characters, Alex desperately tries to ground himself. He longs to become part of a family - any family - whether its a prefab family (with Anne, a single mother of two), a family "by default" (his neighbours), or a family "in waiting" (with Ayla, the single ex-girlfriend of his best friend).
