After Arthur Pringle loses the family fortune on a fleet of steam-powered underwater mail-carriages, he and his wife Michelle are forced to move their daughters—sophisticated 12-year-old Jamille and chaotic 8-year-old Nicki—from a manor to a cramped city tenement.
While Arthur attempts to invent his way back to high society with ridiculous contraptions, Michelle secretly runs local betting rings to pay the rent.
