Robotman swears like a sailor, Crazy Jane has 64 personalities (each with its own power) and Negative Man is wrapped in bandages and guilt. Then there’s Danny the Street, a sentient, teleporting, genderqueer street that communicates via shop signs and hosts drag shows. That’s when I knew the show wasn’t just weird, it was brilliant. It’s not your typical superhero fare. It’s messy, emotional and full of surreal moments. The villains are just as strange, Mr. Nobody literally breaks the fourth wall and narrates his own chaos. Watched it on Amazon, expecting camp. Got depth, heartbreak and a sentient cockroach with a god complex.
