For as harshly as it portrays its prison setting, there's an undertone of empathy throughout due in part to another knockout role from David Jonnson. Opposite, Tom Blyth brings a chaotic unhinged performance that leaves you on edge the entire time. Wasteman has two of the best performances I've seen this year that compliments its intriguing drama well.
- Kevin Ward5 de março de 2026Loved this. Probably my favorite of the BAFTA nominated films this year. So tense throughout. David Jonsson and Tom Blyth and fantastic and perfectly paired. Jonsson plays an inmate, Taylor, who’s just been granted a release if he can manage to stay out of trouble. But Blyth plays his new menacing cellmate, Dee, who’s behavior is essentially guaranteed to muck up Taylor’s chance at freedom.

Visually, the film keeps a restrained and somewhat gritty style that suits its tone well. The direction focuses on realism, and the soundtrack remains subtle, supporting the mood without standing out too much. The script moves at a steady and measured pace, allowing the story to unfold naturally. It does not rush, and that works in its favor, even if it occasionally feels a bit too understated. That same restraint can sometimes limit its impact, with certain moments not hitting as strongly as they could have. Still, it remains a solid and engaging film. Its strength lies in its authenticity and grounded approach, delivering a quiet but effective experience that stays with you in a subtle way.
- ርልዪረ10 de abril de 2026I managed to see this film early through a mystery screening at the cinema and thought it was amazing. The characters are very well written and the story is realistic and dark, Taylor just wants to do the rest of his time and get out but his new cellmate Dee is a drug dealer and causing problems for him, the dynamic between the two was back and forth but it was very enjoyable to watch. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. I won't spoil anything here but I thought what they did in the end was unexpected, very interesting, loved it. Highly recommend if you enjoyed movies like "Starred Up" with Jack O'Connell you'll love this!
