- ClowniEhá 3 diasClassic Robin Williams, don't take it too seriously and you'll love it. Great family movie
- ርልዪረ3 de março de 2025Massively underappreciated Robin Williams movie. Cheryl Hines, Josh Hutcherson, Will Arnett and Jeff Daniels are also making this film flow along smoothly. Not the only actors here, but look it up if you want the full list. Anyway so this is partly a spoof and partly a family comedy. What it's spoofing is the idea and notion of taking a road trip & vacation with the family. Except here, in this movie, pretty much everything goes wrong. From the moment that Robin Williams character first shows the RV to the family it becomes clear that only Robin Williams character expects it to actually be fun. The others sorta go along with dad and grit their teeth and at least try not to start off wrong, but they clearly know it's headed for disaster. It doesn't help matters that the RV here is also literally a rolling billboard & advertisement. Moving along fun & games are thrust onto the family by dad as they play various road trip games and sing corny songs. As they make their way along it's obviously inevitable that they'll need to make various stops along the way. Enter now the family with Jeff Daniels character as the father. A similar mother, father, son & daughter family the two connect right away, but while not intentionally awkward (it's awkward just not intentionally) the first encounter is only the beginning. They seem to frequently run into each other along the way. Sometimes Jeff's family actually really helps Robin's family, other times it's an oddly almost creepy coincidence that brings them together. The latter gets stuck in Robin's family rather quickly and they seek to ditch them. Way easier said than done. Meanwhile Robin's character's wife soon (uh, a little more than halfway through the movie) becomes aware and majorly resentful of how Robin's character is using the whole trip as an excuse to suck up to his boss (Will Arnett). So there's also awkward yet comically awkward moments when Robin's character slips away from his family only so as to tend to his work matters. Bonus, being in the middle of nowhere he gets zero coverage for when he tries to upload his work and it's quite funny just watching him pray to be able to catch a signal. Oh this is so underated in so many ways for so many reasons. Just watch it.
