Very long... It was almost as if he writing was telling the secret all along like a spoiling whisper. I like a little more suspense thank you. Lol so telling from the beginning and it was in the character posture and in the way they spoke their lines. I wasn't moved at all.

While Woody Allen is synonymous with neurotic romantic comedies, Match Point is a departure into the realm of something more dramatic. the acting and script are superb, but the film’s depth lies in its intentional nod to classic literature. By having Chris Wilton read Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment, the film establishes a moral framework rather than just a reference. It forces the audience to grapple with the "Extraordinary Man" theory; the idea that certain individuals may believe themselves above the law to achieve their ends. Beyond the central theme of luck, the film dives deep into the colder, more calculated aspects of human ambition: greed, pragmatic marriage, social class. At the beginning of the film you feel somewhat sympathetic to Chris's outsider ambition, charming personality, then you watch him unravel into something else. The "Journeyman" tennis lifestyle of that era is depicted in the movie authentically. This was before ATP tour started doing stipends for the lower ranks, match fixing and point shaving was more of an issue in the 90's-2000's. The film uses the net cord to explore fate and luck in tennis through the ultimate 'bad bounce'. It's NOT realistic.😂 Allen could have focused on too many lost break points, or injuries for his metaphor but it would have been less cinematic and longer to explain.

I like other Woody works. But this felt like waiting for something substantial to happen. Surface level feelings throughout. Big third act.
