Filled with a star-studded cast, there is far too much back-story, and not enough cinematic foreshadowing of the impending doom. I understand this story is based on a best-selling novel at the time (1970), and that I'm evaluating this with 2025 sensibilities and attention-span, but the build-up to the big reveal of the threat here is yawn-inducing. Perhaps if Hitchcock had directed this, we may have gotten more drama and a more satisfying simmering of psychological excitement, but--to me--this mooophie commits the ultimate sin: it's boring.
- Dan S Turpin15 de janeiro de 2025Ugh. THIS Shit was old-fashioned and cliched in 1970 and has not aged well. It might have worked had the action been more frequent, the tension unbearable, but it's not and here we are. Dean Martin and Burt Lancaster both called it, "Junk" and "The worst one of my career." STILL was a massive hit at the box office and a ratings smash when it aired for the first time in 1973.
