- sergiodelroreyes24 de abril de 2026Fifth time I've watched it. I cry every time. What really fascinates me about this movie is that, while it is centered around a couple and it involves time travel, it is neither a romantic comedy or a sci-fi flick. It actually is a film about human relations and life, and if that's what happens to use time travel as a to show us that. The cast is magnificent, music is lovely and the father-son relationship heals me a little
- Shaydeknight20 de outubro de 2025Every now and then, a film comes along that doesn't just tell a story, it genuinely affects you. About Time is that kind of film. Richard Curtis manages to blend light science fiction, romance, comedy, and drama into something that feels effortless, human, and profoundly moving. Unless you're an absolute sociopath, you will laugh a lot. And cry A LOT. At its core, this isn't a film about time travel, it's about love in its many forms and about learning to live with the consequences of our choices. The ability to revisit the past may sound like a blessing, but Curtis uses it to show that life's beauty lies in its imperfections, in the moments we can't edit or undo. The message is simple and deeply resonant: you can't carry the past with you every step, you have to live forward. The relationship between father and son is the emotional anchor, it's tender, understated, and beautifully played. Bill Nighy and Domhnall Gleeson share a warmth that feels utterly real, full of quiet affection and unspoken understanding. Their scenes together have that rare quality of making you smile through tears. The relationship between Nighy and Duncan (Dad and Mum) radiates a kind of lived-in grace. It's the quiet comfort of two people who've spent a lifetime choosing each other. And then there's the romance between Gleeson and Rachel McAdams, which manages to be funny, awkward, and genuinely sweet all at once. Nothing feels forced. Curtis understands that love, like time, is best measured in small, ordinary moments. By the time the story reaches its emotional crescendo, you realize you've laughed as much as you've cried, and both feel completely earned. About Time is a film about gratitude, acceptance, and the gentle ache of impermanence. It's Curtis' most sincere work, a reminder that life's greatest gift isn't time itself, but the people we share it with.
- Callum23 de novembro de 2025⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – About Time – A Love Story Sewn Into the Fabric of Life About Time is one of those rare romantic dramas that sneaks up on you, wraps itself around your heart, and then quietly breaks it in the most beautifully British way possible. It begins like a sweet, quirky romcom and ends as something much deeper — a meditation on time, family, love, and the quiet sacrifices we make without ever announcing them. It’s warm, funny, and devastating in equal measure. You can see shades of The Time Traveler’s Wife throughout, and in some ways this really does feel like the emotional prequel — the early years before the weight of time-traveling consequences truly sets in. There’s a moral cost embedded in the gift, and the film doesn’t shy away from that. It’s not all roses and fairytale logic; the story slowly reveals a knot of responsibility and regret that sits beneath the sweetness, giving the entire film a resonance that lasts far beyond the credits. And yes — Margot Robbie appears in only a handful of scenes, but she leaves a mark. Her character is the perfect youthful fantasy, the unattainable crush that feels monumental in the moment, only to later become part of life’s background tapestry. The film uses her exactly as intended: a reminder that desire often isn’t destiny, and that the real story unfolds with the people who stay, not the ones we briefly orbit. Domhnall Gleeson carries the film gently, and Rachel McAdams is effortlessly charming, but it’s Bill Nighy who steals the soul of it. Their father–son dynamic elevates this from romance to something far more universal. In the end, About Time becomes a soft philosophical whisper: that life is lived not through rewinds and rewrites, but in learning to savour the imperfect present. Uncle Ben would approve — with great power does indeed come great responsibility, and this film explores that with tenderness instead of spectacle. 🍷 Pairing: A glass of aged red — warm, reflective, and quietly emotional, the kind of drink that deepens as you sit with it, much like the film itself.
