The early episodes lean into comedy, with Vash dodging bullets and responsibility like a Looney Tunes outlaw. But as the series unfolds, the tone shifts, revealing philosophical weight, emotional scars and a showdown with his brother Knives that hits like a freight train. The animation holds up, the soundtrack is moody and memorable and the themes, violence, redemption, identity, still resonate. It’s not perfect, but it’s deeply human and that’s what makes it endure.
