I just rewatched it and weather you watched it on 4k blueray or hbo they do a fantastic job with the quality of this show. The charecters are the reason people watch the show and also dont watch the show. Meaning the charecters twords the end did a full 180. The thing that sucks is we waited so long for these charecters to develop and then they just chucked it out of the window. But its not there fault due to some actors leaving sooner than expected to leave as well as production cost.

However, for new fans be warned that the series quickly takes a nose dive in its final season delivering one of the worst series finales ever televised and almost killing the franchise in the process.

You can clearly see in the later seasons where the passion was fading out for the show runners, and that is unfortunate. The material, the actors, and the fans deserved better from them.

I really feel bad for the actors who put their heart and soul into this project. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the show in the beginning, hence the absolute disappointment.

Unfortunately the writers overtook the books a few seasons before the end and it really shows in the final season where we get a Hollywood version of the show which falls flat at every level. That said there's too much good stuff here to write this off over a poor ending. I still recommend this to anyone that hasn't given it a shot yet.
