Las Vegas 1999The Las Vegas 1999 competition was the second of its kind sanctioned by BattleBots. It was broadcast on Pay-Per-View and taped for the BattleBots 1999 World Championship VHS and DVD home release. The popular Gigabot class returned (later simply called Heavyweights) and the brand-new Superheavyweight class which debuted at this tournament. This was the first competition to run a single-elimination format. The event served to pitch BattleBots as a concept to various networks, and Comedy Central ultimately picked up on the idea to produce televised series.
