Where to Watch Wicked: na dobre

In my opinion, the second half of the Broadway musical is significantly weaker than the first half because it has to rush through so many of its emotional beats and larger character moments to ensure it aligns perfectly with the Wizard of Oz. This movie had the opportunity to flesh those moments out due to having a full movie length of runtime. I don't think it really accomplished that. The first 1hr40min drag like crazy, and yet those large character swings still end up feeling rushed. I'm not entirely sure where that time went, but it did not flesh out some of those side characters to really earn the emotional pathos. It doesn't help that the songs are considerably weaker in the second half (in the Broadway musical as well). With all of that said, from No Good Deed onwards until the end, including For Good, the movie is excellent. The ending is honestly really well done. The larger format does both songs wonders, and while these movies are often a punchline in terms of cinematography, I honestly thought No Good Deed was epic in visuals as well. A large part of that is actually due to Ariana Grande. She surprised me. In the first movie, she's mostly just being silly, but in this one, she has more depth to chew on, and she hits it out of the park. She's magnetic and really sells Glinda as a character. Honestly, Glinda's arc in the stage play always bothered me. It also felt rushed, and I didn't feel like it was earned either. Ariana Grande actually improves upon the musical in this regard in my opinion, making that character finally land for me. I think those last 30-40 minutes are really well done, but unfortunately you have to sit through a forgettable slog to get to them.
- A Noel Rosado3 czerwca 2026While I thoroughly enjoyed the first film, this sequel feels like a clear case of milking a successful movie IP. It isn't a terrible watch by any means, but it is noticeably inferior to its predecessor in both pacing and magic. The lone saving grace is Ariana Grande, who once again delivers a completely believable and compelling performance as Glinda. Cynthia Orivo was consistently good as well.
- Joseph Garlow28 maja 2026First one is definitely the better of the two, but if you watched the first you have to watch the second. Movie was good, but just doesn't hold up to the first....my only complaint was that maybe the last 30 minutes felt rushed and that they were just like "hey we have to wrap this up now...let's go!". Grande is so dam cute just like all the time!!!
- Darvesh Singh Dhillon17 maja 2026As a musical it was a great ending. There were some plot holes left like the animals, morrible, and the introduction of the witch of the east was very shallow. I still enjoyed the movie as someone who has never watched the musical or read the book and finding out about the story surrounding the wizard of oz.
- Carter22 kwietnia 2026Wicked: For Good is a solid conclusion to this franchise. The film obviously looks absolutely gorgeous with all of the green screens and cgi and it makes you feel glad to be in this world again. The film has a big tonal shift where it’s significantly darker than the first. The cast is once again really solid here and all deliver great performances. The film fits in to the Wizard of Oz extremely well. The songs are also great, not as good as the first but still really solid. The dialogue did come off a little cringe at some points. The movie felt kind of rushed and didn’t take time for other things that were needed. The film makes a lot of characters really unlikeable and kind of takes you out of the film as well. But overall it was still a pretty solid film that I enjoyed but it is not as good as the first one.
- stuhannaford26 marca 2026It's ok, it's alright. However, for a two hours plus film, it is drawn out, yet also, bizarrely, feels a little rushed at times. Personally, the first entry was far too long and self indulgent, and that’s from a fan of the stage production. Similarly, it seems to have a false sense of importance, and where previously we were delighted with high shine and polish, the darker tone of this half ends up making it feel very arduous. The humour continues to fall a little flat and some of the performances a real struggle to watch. The previous brilliance of Erivo seems a little duller, and Grande really is tough to believe and enjoy as an actress, again. It also suffers from the fact you know 75% of this half from the original Wizard of Oz story already, and there isn’t quite enough to keep you gripped… a pacing issue caused by the excessive runtimes. Ignoring the three character twists, you could wander in and out and not miss much at far too many moments throughout. Wicked Part 2, Just About Good.
- vangh110 grudnia 2025It's hard to rate this one. I had some really good discussion after about the ways in which the movie really effectively conveys the idea that the message is so much less important than the messenger and how people already perceive them (a message that holds a lot of weight these days). And about the ways that this takes some liberties from the original 1939 movie and the technical aspects of the visuals and pacing. Usually, if a movie evokes good, interesting conversations, that's a strong indicator how much I like it. But in this case, well, yes, I liked it, but I don't feel like it resonated on that deeper level that keeps you thinking and considering for days on end after. The character development for Elpheba felt a little choppy, Glinda's wrestling with the two sides of her allegiances felt a little muddy, the songs didn't feel quite as catchy (though I loved Oz's opening verse and the verse about history in "Wonderful" and the line about living in dreams in "The Girl in the Bubble"), and while the plot feels like it had a fair amount of big moments, I feel like none of them really struck me or resonated for some reason. All in all, it was good, I enjoyed it, I just don't think it will stick with me... for good.
