Troja
Directed by Wolfgang PetersenLudzie walczą od stuleci.

Troja Ratings & Reviews
- cyberbillp29 grudnia 2025An Epic Film of a legendary tale. Well done. In over three hours I only saw three tiny errors. Two were Hectors rubber armor flexing as he donned it and lastly the harness showing when a Trojan is hung out a window. Brief minor glitches. The rest of the film is top notch. It loses it's luster after you watch it three or so times, but none the less, this holds up fine when compared to other Epics like Ben-Hur, The Ten Commandments, or Cleopatra and their ilk. Movies this good don't come along often. Watch it!
- Michael Heimgartner28 grudnia 2025Achilles’ War – Not Troy’s The extended cut of Wolfgang Petersen’s 2004 film Troy surprised me more than I expected. While it still carries the weight and tone of a grand historical epic, it’s now much clearer what this film actually is at its core. It is not a true adaptation of the Iliad and definitely not a balanced ensemble drama about the Trojan War. The entire film is built around one character alone: Achilles. The title might even feel misleading. You walk in expecting gods, fate, and the sprawling myth of Troy, but instead the story is framed as a tragic meditation on glory, violence and death, all centered around a man whose only purpose is to be remembered. Brad Pitt delivers a cold and physical Achilles, more a force of nature than a traditional protagonist. His performance avoids sentimentality and brings out the detached emptiness of a warrior obsessed with legacy. Once you accept that Troy is not telling the full myth but rather the tragedy of Achilles, the film starts to make much more sense. Everything else, including Troy’s fall or Helen’s role, becomes secondary. The decision to end the story shortly after Achilles’ death feels abrupt at first, but it is thematically perfect. The film dies with its hero, and trying to stretch it further into Odysseus or the sack of Troy would belong in another film entirely. The extended cut restores over 30 minutes of footage and changes the tone in several key scenes. It is more violent and raw, with bloodier battles and more political nuance. It corrects some of the theatrical version’s odd pacing and fleshes out side characters like Briseis and Agamemnon a bit more, though never enough to truly balance the story. The added material gives the film a grittier atmosphere and places it more in line with the post-Gladiator wave of grounded, dirt-under-the-nails epics. Visually, Troy still holds up. Petersen went for a realistic, physical style with minimal use of CGI, and it pays off. The set designs, armor, and locations feel tactile. The duel between Achilles and Hector remains iconic cinema. Eric Bana brings a grounded nobility to Hector and makes the tragedy of his death hit hard. Watching Peter O’Toole as Priam is another highlight. His scene pleading for Hector’s body is deeply moving and stands out as one of the film’s rare emotional peaks. Troy is not without flaws. It compresses a ten-year war into what feels like a few weeks. The gods are absent entirely, which may disappoint fans of the myth. Some characters, like Paris or Menelaus, are reduced to one-note roles. But the film does not try to be everything. It is not Homer. It is not a myth. It is a modern tragedy about the cost of legacy. And for what it sets out to be, it succeeds far more than its reputation suggests. The extended cut, in particular, makes it clearer that this is not a messy blockbuster but a focused and deliberate character study wrapped in an epic’s clothing. A flawed but compelling war tragedy that does justice to the myth’s darker edges.

- Rohitos Baray15 lutego 2025good movie
- KyGun13 listopada 2025One of my favorite Brad Pitt movies. I love the story line throughout the movie. It has Love, betrayal, war, and blood and gore. It tells the story we all heard so much about in high school. A once great city destroyed by politicians. And now, we repeat the cycle with todays politicians.
- GSP27 października 2025Great movie, lots of fun to watch and enjoy
- Patrick D.21 września 2025Man, I miss the 2000s big budget historical epics. This movie is great. It has aged phenomenally, too.
- EnochLight20 stycznia 2025They don't make sword and sandal flicks like this anymore. TROY is beautifully shot, and Petersen's more realistic take on this legendary war epic is a sight to behold. There are no subtextual conversations from the POV of Zeus, Hera, or any of the other various Gods of Olympus. The film is from the POV of the mortals who loved, fought, and died in Homer's epic, and in doing so - Petersen grounds the film in a world that feels "real". Brad Pitt seems like he was born to play Achilles, as was Eric Bana playing Hector. Orlando Bloom, fresh off of Lord of the Rings, portrays a splendid Paris, and Brian Cox as Agamemnon was a brilliant choice. Peter O'Toole as Priam couldn't have been better, and Brendan Gleeson, Diane Kruger, and Rose Byrne all bring their A-game. If I had any complaint, it's that I would have loved to have seen Sean Bean as Odysseus in a follow-up in The Odyssey, but that ship has long sailed to Ithaca. On that note, I am very much looking forward to what Christopher Nolan does with The Odyssey (hoping he keeps the mythological/supernatural elements). Overall, TROY is underappreciated and a fantastic piece of film history. Highly recommended!
- Kit Lazer29 marca 2025I probably watched this 50 times as a kid.
- tellum6 września 2025The acting is quite good even if the characters are all unlikable for various reasons. The visuals and action in the movie are also good.
- theLillyPad25 sierpnia 2025If one ignores the Epic Cycle that inspires it, Troy is a serviceable action flick with some weird decisions and poor dialogue. When held up against the Iliad, the Aeneid, and the rest of the myths it is adapting, Troy is a disgrace--a Greek tragedy of epic proportions. Changes are made often and without cause, such as removing the gods from the story entirely, or heaping an entire HOUR onto the beginning of this (already too long) that adapts nothing from the original stories. You read that right--the first hour features literally nothing from the material being adapted. The film's attempt to make Achilles a complicated hero comes across as confused and noncommittal, and keeping him alive past the Trojan Horse escapade gives him little to do but run around and pretend he's had an arc. This is overshadowed by the attempts to make Paris heroic at all, or to make the abduction of Hellen romantic. The way characters bend over backwards to justify the slaughter of Troy for their affair is wild. The character of Menelaus, one of the few relatively innocent Greeks in the original story, is assassinated to this very end. The forced romance between Achilles and Briseis is equally off-putting. The action is great, generally speaking, and fun to watch. The allusions to the Aeneid and the handling of Patrocles are nice, changes and all. At the end of the day, though, I'd just say to read the book. I think dudes in particular will be surprised at how much they enjoy it.
- pipanni10 września 2025This movie leaves me feeling a bit divided. Some of the action scenes are incredible. In fact I think the battle between Achilles and Hector is incredible and my favorite "swords and shields" fight coreography ever. But there also some cheesy and unnecessary scenes which could have been cut when editing. All in all a nice movie but maybe just a bit too long.
- Movies are good2229 maja 2025"I loved my boy from the moment he opened his eyes, Till the moment you closed them." I finally watched it after procrastinating on watching it for over 2 weeks for some reason I finally was able to put that Blu-Ray in & press play & I got to say very much exceed my expectations but at the same time, also kind of disappointed me Let's start with the best & also maybe the worst aspect about the movie & that is everything to do with Brad Pitt like there was literally nothing wrong with this movie when Brad Pitt is on screen my engagement level would go all the way up to 100% & my enjoyment level goes up to over a 100% just everything to do with Brad Pitt in this movie is perfect & also, it just helps that Brad Pitt just gives maybe his best performance ever, here like in just every metric, it was a perfect movie when he was on screen so you think that would make this movie at 10/10 for me, since he's the main character but he honestly doesn't have a lot of screen time in the first half like if you only watched the first half of the movie & turned it off I wouldn't blame you for thinking Orl&o Bloom & Eric Bana were the main characters & also, it doesn't really help that the stuff outside of Brad Pitt always starts to get really good when Brad Pitt starts to appear more often so you have like the first hour / hour & a half, that's kind of just solid but you're kind of just left there waiting for when Brad Pitt would come back really the only other character that would keep you entertain in that meantime was the “FUCK OFF!” God himself, Brian Cox but everything outside of those 2 aspects, we're kind of just decent like it was still good but it was nowhere near as good as when Brad Pitt was on screen The other thing about this movie I love is the 2nd half cuz everything is just so much better in the half not only do you get more Brad Pitt but also all the stuff outside of Brad Pitt was also extremely engaging & wasn't just decent & the 3rd Act, man WOW Anyway, those are my thoughts I didn't go in expecting me to make a review at all like this but I'm happy I did cuz I think it's kind of interesting how one singular character is kind of the glue that's holding this whole entire film together which is kind of something I have never really noticed to this extent before So if you're like me & you just have the over 3-hour cut of this movie just lying around & you’ve just been putting it off because of the runtime (even though, just like me, you know you're used to 3-hour run times, but you just keep procrastinating it just because of that) then be like me & finally just bite the fuckin’ bullet cuz even though you might not be fully entertained in the 1st half you are rewarded with maybe Brad Pitt's best performance ever & also a pretty fuckin’ great 2nd half Overall this movie really like showing Brad Pitt almost completely naked
- The Gutter Monkey16 marca 2025A cool and gritty take on the Iliad, exchanging the magical and mythical for a grounded story that feels like real history.
