Sure, it starts off slow and predictable — the kind of opening where you half-expect a jump scare at every creaky door — but stick with it. Once the stairway and basement scenes kick in, it really clamps down on the tension, making you feel every inch of that claustrophobic, grainy horror. Lalor Roddy as Father Thomas carries the movie on his back; his grounded, no-nonsense performance makes the supernatural nonsense actually feel believable. The film leans on some classic horror tropes, but it wears them well, and the vintage found-footage style actually adds to the unease rather than feeling tired. It’s unnerving without going over the top, and the cast’s natural performances keep you invested — which is more than you can say for half the modern horror flicks out there. It won’t reinvent the genre, but if you like creeping dread, tight spaces, and a priest who actually acts like a human being rather than a scream machine, The Devil’s Doorway is worth a watch.
