Claustrophobic and tense survival horror. The cave setting carries most of the movie, and the creatures add enough creep factor to keep it interesting. I enjoyed it a lot.

A “modern” classic. The Descent is horror perfection. It’s claustrophobic, it’s scary, you feel for the actresses and they do a great job immersing you in the experience. Director Neil Marshall did amazing work with this film.

Maybe... don't go into a cave that isn't on any maps. Just a thought.

I will not be going in any caves, thank you.

Couldn't have been better, yes blood looked fake, but none of that matters when the story line is so god damn good, I personally think this is my favorite horror movie I've EVER watched, of you have ever played the video game called the Forest, it reminds me of this, I feel like if this was made around this time, it wouldn't have been nearly as good

Love this series! Wish they would of made a third installment, but part 2 ends great

Pretty good movie. The claustrophobia probably gave me more fear at the beginning than the latter part although the end was a sneaky bit of stuff. Generally not a big horror fan anymore due to the lack of originality, but this was OK.

Focusing on the fear of claustrophobia with the simple dread of the unknown, The Descent puts likable characters in frightening situations. As a horror fanatic, this film floats at the top of my list of best scary films.

Awesome movie, great effects, and illusions. Makes me feel like I'm down in the caves myself .!!

The Descent is a solid little horror flick that does some serious heavy-lifting with a tiny budget. While not being quite as claustrophobic as some of the caving horror stories on YouTube, The Descent does a remarkable job of making every single scene feel enclosed and desperate. The cave in scene is incredibly uncomfortable to watch. I really appreciated the slow build up to the introduction of the creatures and how all of the characters come across as sensible and level-headed. Low budget horror movies usually resort to characters being horrendously stupid to make certain plot points work but it's much better when they keep their wits about them and stuff still goes wrong. The cast all being their A game here. Audio and Visuals. The audio is fine all the way through, nothing particularly interesting to note. The visuals are however more interesting. Taking places underground, the lighting is REALLY important to get right and 90% of the time, this film gets it very right. There are however a few scenes where the lighting is impossibly good for a single glow stick. I'm willing to put this aside given the tiny budget and challenging conditions of the filming. The bluray isnt the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I'm keen to get my hands on the 4K to see if it's much better, but £60 is a tough pill to swallow.
