Shortly after that, a serious accusation comes up against Max regarding his aggressive investigative methods. He gets fired. That was the last thing that kept him afloat after his wife's death. As he was left completely alone, Max stumbles upon Nemov's personnel record and dossier again. He realizes that it was his partner who committed that brutal crime, trying to take revenge for his brother. In the end, Max faces a stark choice: whether he should save his life, get his job back or destroy another's life.
