Just watch it because you'll be absolutely amazed as who plays who in the film. Critically you need to watch Nosferatu (1922) for context and background. Pay attention to the end of Nosferatu because there are some super creepy things going on in that film that make a lot more sense when you watch Shadow of the Vampire.
