- Varun19 października 2024After 5 Scream movies and a tv show, I’m impressed that this part still managed to misdirect me on the killer’s identity and motives. Ghostface is more brutal and menacing than ever before and the action scenes were enjoyable. The New York City vibe is a nice change from the small town vibes of the past movies and the colour tone made it even more cinematic. The main cast is great, the additional cast I found to be a bit weak this time but overall they were decent. I think part 6 is as good as, if not better than the previous film and I’m excited to see how they develop this franchise going forward. Update (22-11-2023): There’s nothing to look forward to as the franchise is dead now that Spyglass decided to fire Melissa Barrera for supporting the basic human rights of Palestinians and Jenna Ortega dropping out. The only hope is if it’s sold to a different company and they get the main cast back together. It took 11 years to bring back and revitalise Scream and Spyglass killed it in one day smh

The man held up a convenience store with a shotgun for 5 minutes easy. NY is slacking! Love “when the party's over” being in this so much. Also reminder that Billie & Finneas were on Fishcenter on [adult swim] in 2018 +1/4 star for Tim Robinson voice and cloaked Akiva cameo
- Jeremiah5 marca 2026In 2023 I watched Scream 1 -5, like one a day in anticipation of watching 6, when I was done with 5 though oh man did I scream myself out. Here we are 3 years later fulfilling that plan finally. The 6th movie in the Scooby Doo series isn’t offering much new than the setting and no Sydney. Of course the Scooby Doo ending gets hammy and theatrical. It was all fine. Watchable. Dependent on how much you like these new characters and they are ok but im not head over heels for any of em, Maybe in 3 years I will watch Scream 7.

Not only did they do fine, I will take this entry slightly over last year's reboot of the horror series (review). This is mainly due to one factor: They have unleashed an even more brutal version of the Ghostface killer. Beyond that, if you thought enough already about the whole Scream idea and the last one was overkill or just a cash grab, then do not bother with this one. If you are still reading, then you will want to know the good. First off, the kills are quite nice, and I do like the relentless version we have this time. So if you want more blood, then you will be satisfied. They also do a nice job of taking the retread characters from Scream 5 and giving them a bit more depth. Not saying that is necessary for a horror flick, but at least I got a better feel for their plight this time. Getting Jenna Ortega front and center after becoming the Hollywood darling of Wednesday was a must, and it worked seamlessly. Her and older sister Melissa Barrera leave Woodsboro and make a home in New York City in hopes of putting that bit of the past behind them. But we wouldn't be here for the requel-sequel if that were at all possible. And this time they decide to really double down on the formula that has been the driving force of these flix, "whodunit". Even though you are prepped to start guessing who it is right away, the writers made sure to throw plenty of crumbs around to keep you wondering. You will really get pulled into this one right away as it opens up at full tilt with a couple of nice kills before the credits are even rolling. And not too long into the mayhem will we see Courteney Cox again reporting on the familiar gruesome happenings. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett work up some really nice set pieces and find a way to bleed out every last drop of the scenes they are designed for. A favorite is a simple corner store robbery that turns into a bloodbath when Ghostface shows up. Only the fans of the series need to check this out since it doesn't bring anything new to the table, but it does enough to separate itself from being mundane, which is exactly what I expected to happen.
- LivewireAdmin2 grudnia 2025"F*ck this franchise." It's hard to dislike any Scream entry with them being so self-deprecating however this one is in the bottom tier for me. There's a lot that works: the change in setting, the new characters are able to expand their roles and some genuinely exhilarating set pieces (the bodega and subway sequences stand out). It was a mistake not bringing Neve Campbell back. I know it was a money dispute but pay her what she deserves, she ALWAYS helps anchor any entry. Barrera is great and Ortega's stardom is still rising but Sydney is a must! Courtney Cox was under-utilized and this one might have the worst villain reveal of them all? I remember genuinely being taken out of the movie when the masks came off lol I know the last thing I should be looking for in these movies is realism but come on, if somebody gets stabbed like 15 times and they don't die?? Well then there's really not much that's off the table. But just to be clear, a Scream movie can be absolute ass and I'll show up for the next one.
