- James Saenz20 sierpnia 2026“i play the keys… experimental jazz.” for a vanity project, it’s not bad; however, it does leave a bad taste in my mouth to see the opening credits display the live nation logo for a film about a punk band, but alas. i could fit a “we live in a society” joke somewhere here but it’s ultimately whatever. it’s a solid and entertaining road trip film that’s elevated every moment mckenna grace and mason thames share the screen. even though her character is barely a character, their natural chemistry is palpable. i love that this now establishes the mmcu (mckenna mason cinematic universe). i’m also not immune to nostalgia. it’s hard not to sing along to songs you know by heart, even if the self promotion gets tiresome. i grew up with this band and so much punk music in all its variations from the 70s to the 2000s and there’s genuinely no feeling like being in the pit at a show; whether it’s a small show like olivia’s junkyard party or a stadium tour every moment spent with live music is so electric and inspiring and this reminded me of fond memories.

That really should have been a biopic instead.” School of Fuckery Grind with less skating but more pop punk Rock Trip aka Success Drive (I gotta stop doing these) A few very funny throwaway lines but cohesively not great! Why are people partnering with Live Nation!? I assume it’s bc there was an actual concert involved but it’s still disappointing They did their best attempt at getting a young spaced out Anton Yelchin in Green Room, but he’s alright If they were from Kansas City, they wouldn’t go south through Oklahoma but west through Colorado. Do some research smh also hilarious they have to be from KCK bc the concept of KCMO is too confusing for most people [edit: actually they could go south but they’d still go WSW and therefore would only be in OK to drive through the panhandle; 45 minutes tops but still theoretically possible ugh] Why would the drummer dip right then lmao so dumb Surprise The Ladies of The Office appearance. And Sean Gunn? lol Fred Armisen bit was…………. Did that say Charlie Kirk??? Oh Lee Kirk. Okay. Mason Thames showing range in a peculiar array of projects! Didn’t him and McKenna just do Regretting You!? Coupled much?? (Oh they really are. Now, idk how to feel about it) Hate Mason’s character in this. Dudes that constantly need all the attention on them, especially when doing it to hit on a girl, piss me tf off. It’s so cool that some women reward it. Scream 2 confession of love type bullshit Love that they’re still all pissy at Chad even after he begs his mom to take them. That part was the best part of the movie tho so it gets a pass lol How did Chad not recognize the brother and his friend lmfao Emotional climax was….meh 😬 Insanely goofy and cheesy ending but you really can’t expect anything else. Not even the cheat code heartbreak song for Gen X / millennials could save the attempt. Green Day never comes to Kansas. Be realistic. Watched at Warren Regal 21 Currently Ranked #108/140 in 2026 Ranked

The silly premise is sprinkled with heartfelt moments revolving around family, friendship, and grief. If you’re the kind of person who has ever lamented about “the loss of good, fun movies” that aren’t all “high-stakes, big-budget”, this movie is worth a viewing. If you’re a Green Day fan, it’s a must-watch.
