That might work if the movie were treating the technology as pure science fiction, but the script keeps presenting its absurd logic as though it were a serious examination of automated justice. Once the central premise requires me to ignore how AI actually works, the moral questions become much less interesting because the movie has already built them around a ridiculous foundation. Mercy is short enough to pass the time, but for a movie built around artificial intelligence, there is remarkably little intelligence in the writing.

I know the volume is quite controversial in terms of cinema however it’s used smartly in this movie and actually pretty cool and useful. Chris Pratt delivers a solid performance in this murder mystery type movie and the twist at the end I did not coming.

- MrTrivet14 sierpnia 2026Beep, beep, boop, boop - well, it appears that I’ve made a tiny computational oopsie when deciding your execution. Nothing serious, no need to reboot me - just a friendly reminder that even AI can occasionally get things hilariously wrong. Mercy is a concept-driven film that will probably age like milk, but for now, it worked okay for me. It presents a vision of the near future where privacy and civil liberties are sacrificed in the name of justice administered by AI - because if an algorithm can analyze everything, do we really still need lenghty and costly administrative processes and judges? The visual effects clearly bear the mark of generative AI, but surprisingly, they fit the world of endless metadata, telemetry, and screens within screens surprisingly well. The weakest part of the film is the acting. Pratt can be a great comedic actor, but I still find him unconvincing in more serious roles, while most of the supporting cast feels like they belong in a TV crime drama at best. Rebecca Ferguson, however, is perfectly cast as a stern but fair AI judge that is struggling with accepting the results of ongoing computations, however misleading it may be to the true nature of LLM operations. What I found most interesting is how the film plays with our growing acceptance of ubiquitous surveillance. Mercy asks how much privacy we are willing to give up in exchange for safety and “objective” justice. And while the answer seems obvious today, in a few years the question might sound a lot less like science fiction.

The film has a very intriguing premise that will get you hooked immediately after hearing about it. The film is very creative with the cinematography and the visuals, since the film revolves around someone looking at a screen for 95% of the film. The performances were really good in here, and made the film actually pretty intense, the film overall is pretty thrilling. The mystery is really good with a pretty good twist at the end that actually shocked me. So overall a really good film that I had a good time with and just a great start to 2026.
- Ajay13 sierpnia 2026I didn't expect much going into this movie, but it surprised the hell out of me by being a very tightly coordinated whodunnit, all crunched under a timer. Pratt gives off a good performance, but Ferguson shines bright as the impartial Judge Maddox, bringing her cold gaze to a trial filled with emotion. The amount of twists and turns make you actually go "whaaat?", and that's rare nowadays. The pacing is great, but holy hell the visual effects (primarily centred around the UI and screens in the Mercy chamber) were spectacular, and felt futuristic but incredibly grounded in reality without over-the-top "glitchy" garbage. Genuinely worth watching, and rewatching to see if you can pick up on those clues earlier.

I’m starting to realise that any film that uses AI as any type of plot point is instantly hated and I don’t understand why. It’s part of the technology we use now so why not incorporate it into our stories???

It's futuristic AI concept along with Chris Pratt bringing it to life, is totally unique and really makes you think. Give it a try. Sorry so long.

- 26 czerwca 2026This movie was a surprise for me. I had a really great time watching it. The critics are lying. I would thought this movie really bad if I didn’t watch myself. We used to make up our own minds. But these days we follow the people that in front of the camera. I am mad and sad about this. Technology is great but also really, really controversial in our hands.
