- Kevin Ward1 lipca 2025Marco, The Invented is a biographical drama that explores the life of Enric Marco (Eduard Fernández), a man who fabricated his experiences as a Holocaust survivor. The film delves into his rise as a celebrated figure in Spain, where he became the head of an association of Spanish survivors of Nazi concentration camps, and his subsequent downfall when his deception was exposed by historian Benjto Bermejo. Enioyed this quite a bit. It’s a pretty fascinating to try and figure out what it is that would drive someone to do something like this. But it so often seems like it’s pure narcissism above anything else. Didn’t love the flashback style. The film would often use a flashback simply to setup a payoff that happens in the next scene. I think telling the story chronologically would have allowed those kinds of setups and payoffs simmer for a bit longer and perhaps add a bit more tension to the drama. Entertaining, nonetheless.
