- treespit5 marca 2026I know exactly why audiences (somehow) rated this 3 stars or less- they are unsatisfied by its ambiguity. I won't sit here on my high horse and say they didn't understand it, but I will say that a movie with a theme so well stated is wasted on those with that opinion. During the final scene, the reviews that I had read prior to viewing with the final monologue finally clicked- this movie is about the realization of the inevitability of death from the perspective of young minds. When we're in high school and college, fleeting sexual experiences and novel acts of rebellion frame our understanding of death as something so far off that it might as well not even be considered. This film brings the absolute certainty of its arrival front and center. A creepy and relentlessly intriguing premise, executed exactly as it should have been, with a particularly forward-thinking direction style. I'm disappointed in anyone that didn't enjoy this.
- carter28825 lutego 2026It Follows is a huge disappointment and not worth the hype. The film does have a really cool concept that is kind of wasted in this film. The cast is also really good in this film with them playing likeable characters. There are some really creative shots as well. And the score is incredible and might just be one of the greatest horror scores of all time. The film also does drag for me a lot and really pulls you out of the film. Another problem I have is that the movie really goes nowhere and is kind of a waste of time. But my biggest issue with this movie is all the disgusting imagery that absolutely makes the film 10 times worse. So overall a mediocre film that could have been great but instead wasted on it with some really disgusting imagery.

Her nuanced portrayal grounds the film’s surreal, dreamlike atmosphere, making Jay’s plight feel all too real. Director David Robert Mitchell cleverly blurs the lines of time and reality with an uncanny 80s aesthetic mixed with modern elements. The characters use smart devices, yet they drive classic cars and live in neighborhoods reminiscent of a bygone era. This disjointed sense of time adds to the film’s otherworldly, unsettling tone, keeping viewers constantly off-balance. The relentless “follower” itself is a masterclass in horror simplicity, taking on ordinary yet eerie human forms that make its presence all the more disturbing. The slow, inevitable nature of its approach creates an almost unbearable tension, heightened by the pulsating, retro synth score from Disasterpeace. With its unique premise, stellar lead performance, and ability to keep you on edge long after it’s over, It Follows is a modern horror masterpiece. Fans of atmospheric, psychological horror like The Babadook, Hereditary, or The Ring will find this an unforgettable experience. A must-watch.
