Icefall plays like Event Horizon (1997) rewritten on a frozen lake, with Stefan Ruzowitzky treating the ice sheet as a white hull over a door to the pit and every crack sounding like bulkheads groaning for entry; the Indigenous game warden played by Joel Kinnaman hauls a captured poacher played by Danny Huston across this killing ground while Cara Jade Myers and Graham Greene try to hold to procedure the way a sane crew keeps the airlocks sealed, and the money beneath the surface glows like a gravity drive promising salvation that is really surrender. Paul W. S. Anderson’s Event Horizon from 1997 is a masterpiece of cosmic damnation, and its moral geometry maps cleanly here, with Laurence Fishburne’s Captain Miller standing for protocol and sealed doors and Sam Neill’s Dr. William Weir embodying rapture that mistakes pain for revelation, a dynamic Icefall translates into the clash between survival codes and greed. Ruzowitzky shoots snow and breath with clinical clarity so that each decision feels like stepping farther down a red corridor, and the performances stay flinty and human, which turns the final descent into a true reckoning rather than a twist.

Enjoyable mindless action film which moves along at a good pace.

Kind of a bad remake of Cliffhanger. Characters make significantly worse decisions and the main protagonists have plot armer a mile thick making it hard to care for them.

Icefall is compelling, tense, and smart enough to keep you invested. It's exactly the kind of film I'd recommend for a weekend evening when you want something exciting, outdoorsy and chilly (literally and figuratively)

“Icefall” gestures at themes of responsibility, guilt, and resilience, but it rarely lingers long enough for them to land fully. It isn’t interested in twists so much as escalation. Each decision leads to narrower margins and harsher consequences. If you’re drawn to quiet endurance stories and minimalist thrillers, it works. If you’re looking for something that lingers long after the credits, it may come up a little short.

Started off well, action was OK but it ran out of steam in the middle.

Low budget, can really tell on open scenic backdrops. Not bad story but needs some more budget for quality.

Icefall was a fair action film especially if you go in with few expectations. The story is a more than weak and the acting…questionable. However, the action is pretty good as are the death scenes. It is worth a watch but won’t make it onto anyones top 20 list unless they are crushing on the lead.

Icefall was pretty good. Never dull, paced well. Pretty sound thriller plot.
