- jackmeat14 marca 2026My quick rating - 5.8/10. Always been a huge fan of Jackie Chan long before he made it over to the USA with Rumble in the Bronx. Unfortunately, I can't see John Cena, so I'm not sure how he is LOL. Hidden Strike tries to take the idea of adrenaline-fueled action to the next level in a way that's almost reminiscent of a comic book come to life. The unique pairing and non-stop action scenes almost make it achieve its purpose. Almost. Set against the backdrop of a China-run oil refinery under attack in war-torn Mosul, Iraq, Hidden Strike weaves a tale of chaos, valor, and unexpected alliances. The story really gets going when the seemingly simple task of rescuing oil workers from the clutches of the enemy turns into a battle against a group of oil-stealing thieves. The unexpected hero of the piece is a Chinese security contractor (Chan), whose martial arts and tactical skills are on full display. However, he soon discovers the true intentions of the oil thieves, who are not in it for the money but want to steal oil for the sheer value of it, and has to team up with an American former Marine (Cena) in order to put an end to the nefarious plans. I thought I would point out which was which, in case you couldn't figure it out by my definition LOL. The film's strength is its epic presentation of the action scenes. Each scene is a symphony of wild choreography, set in a comic book-like setting. Scott Waugh's skill to transform mundane scenes into heart-pounding, larger-than-life showdowns is praiseworthy. From the intense gunfights to the daring racing scenes, the film's action scenes are a force to be reckoned with, keeping us glued to our seats, waiting for the next scene to unfold. Let's see how he handles Expendables 4. The chemistry between Chan and Cena is a pleasant surprise as they play off each other in a comedic way, owing to their distrust of each other. As their friendship progresses from distrust to respect, the chemistry gives the scenes a little more substance, as the scenes might have otherwise been action-filled but dull. Hidden Strike delivers in terms of sheer entertainment. However, there are moments when the plot takes a backseat to the explosions and combat. Some characters could have been better developed, and certain plot twists feel slightly contrived. Still, these minor shortcomings are eclipsed by the film's overall energy and excitement. If you're seeking a wild ride that combines over-the-top action with an unexpected buddy duo, this film is worth a watch. Admittedly, I was hoping for better, being a fan of each. The plot left a bit to be desired, but I still had fun.
