I remember watching this from home and having the crap scared out of me during that *SPOILER* one scene with the mom floating on the ceiling. Not only does it excel in its scariness, but has excellent acting, writing, everything.

- Rampage_Factor10 października 2026The first 50 minute to an Hour are some of the most dull and dry set up I've ever watched. Then something happens and the movie just becomes depressing and uncomfortable until about the final 10 minutes which were actually creepy, but failed to make up for the entire movie. The acting was phoned in at best and there was a "twist" that was genuinely mind numbingly dumb. I would not reccomend wasting time on this.

Given the brutality of these experiences and how they are captured, Ari Aster either turned his personal experience into a screen story, imagined such grievous trauma in his mind, or combined both truth and fiction. Hereditary is very often a hard watch, but it always feels honest.

- MrTrivet22 września 2025Hereditary is, for me, an absolute masterpiece - a perfect balance between paranormal horror and a heavy, family drama. An unpredictable scare is a true rarity. Some scenes, and especially that one - you know the one – make your stomach drop, your heart stop, and it’s hard to believe what’s happening on screen. The film is incredibly unsettling, full of allegories and high emotional stakes. The finale was so absurd that it left me in maniacal laughter. The characters navigate increasingly twisted experiences, and the film offers a horror-infused perspective on the stages of grief - what would normally distort our perception of reality here finds full justification in what unfolds on screen. This is one of those films that stays with you for a long time, showing just how powerful horror can be when it intersects with human tragedy. Toni Collette is simply brilliant, and I believe this film will ensure her place in the annals of horror cinema.

The explanation is inexplicable. The result is multitonal, a partly comical fever dream dressed in visual discomfort. Yet the dread lingers past the runtime. Every scene holds attention. But the real artists were Steve Newburn and his team creating all those miniatures.

A large part of the movie feels painfully artificial, with characters repeatedly making questionable decisions and then being pushed into increasingly miserable situations simply so they can fall apart. There are intriguing ideas and some effective imagery, but the writing becomes increasingly contrived, culminating in an absolutely awful ending. After all the hype, I can't see how this qualifies as a horror masterpiece. And when the official trailer itself calls it “this generation’s The Exorcist, but heads will spin more savagely,” that comparison feels almost laughable in retrospect.
- 10 czerwca 2026I genuinely think this is one of the best horror movies this decade. The slowly unraveling mystery, the incredible acting and the gut wrenching twists have stayed with me since seeing it in theaters. Not too thrilled to hear about the prequel, but here’s hoping it’s just as good as this modern masterpiece.
