The gripping storyline, combined with John Woo’s masterful direction, creates a perfect blend of emotion, suspense, and high-octane action. Face/Off is a must-watch that delivers unforgettable entertainment from start to finish!
- Richard5 października 2025Saw it in the cinemaand then bought it as one of my first DVD's (2 sided disc where you had to turn the disc half way in the movie). It was pure Woo madness, and I loved every frame. Seeing Face/Off in the cinema was like being strapped to a rocket powered by slow motion gunfights and operatic insanity. Face/Off is still wild, still brilliant and still one of the most entertaining identity swapping thrillers ever made.
- Chris McSwain5 lutego 2026This is just a good ole 90's action flick. You can't go wrong with it. Faceoff has some heavyweight actors in it which makes it fun to watch. For it's time, it was amazing and still holds up today. The action starts immediately when the movie starts and the pedal never leaves the floor.
- ርልዪረ27 września 2025My favorite John Woo film is hands down "Hard Boiled" which is simply a masterpiece of the action genre, but no one can deny how fun and insane his 1997 action drama "Face/Off" is as he executes one of his more weird and ridiculous ideas for a film. We follow FBI agent Sean Archer who is hunting down terrorist Castor Troy who is responsible for the murder of his son six years prior and despite catching him at an airport, he can't get any of his people to speak about the bomb that's set to go off in a few days so Archer makes the decision to go under the knife and swap his face for Troy's face in order to impersonate him and illicit information from Troy's brother Pollux about the bomb. What follows is a film that sees a goofy premise elevates by the talents of both John Travolta and Nicolas Cage who commit 100% effort to the material in the script as if they don't make it believable, this becomes a comedic film as opposed to the drama it's supposed to be and they sell you on the confusion between both men as they are pretending to be the other even down to inheriting each other's lives and families. This has the classic Woo trademarks as we get massive explosions, slow-mo shots through the roof, Mexican standoffs in virtually every other scene, and characters looking their coolest during shootouts. While the action is really strong especially the airport shootout and the final boat chase fight scene, the film is mostly focused on the characters and their internal conflicts as they start to go against their better judgment being in the bodies of one another but man do Cage and Travolta kill it as the opposite version with the former being a very convincing Sean Archer in the body of Castor Troy and especially the latter being an over-the-top maniacal version of Troy in Archer's body. We see them have moments of clarity specifically Travolta as Castor Troy being Archer during the burial site scene when the weight of his violent actions six years ago hit him when Archer's wife Eve is weeping, but the scene of Travolta as Troy when he encounters Troy's son is an emotionally heavy moment that comes back around in the end and despite the very happy ending of this film I believe the alternate ending is much darker and ambiguous as we see Archer, back in his original body, look in the mirror and see the face of Troy to which his wife Even gasps only for him to look back and see his real face again. They hug but right before the frame freezes we see a slight smirk on Archer's face suggesting that he may still be Castor Troy in Archer's body, which just hits harder as an ending giving you false hope only to take it away.

John Travolta and Nicolas Cage totally commit to their roles, making it an entertaining watch even when it gets a bit ridiculous. The action is solid, and it keeps you hooked with its twisty plot. Not perfect, but definitely worth checking out if you're into high-energy, over-the-top thrillers
