- ርልዪረ2 lutego 2025📡 Contact is a beautiful, thoughtful movie. So intelligently scripted, directed and acted. Carl Sagan’s novel is thought provoking, questioning the meaning of life in such a way that, though not providing answers, does not really let you down either. Whilst the movie loses the wonderful concept of Ellie finding an intelligent message in her calculation of Pi, it still leaves you with a feeling of amazement at the universe, and the nature of being. The conflict of faith and science is intelligently and fairly dealt with in a way which leaves both sides of the argument room to explore. Ellie’s realisation which questions her certainty that “faith” is unscientific and hence invalid, is shattering. This really is a greatly underrated movie which would appeal to many people who might not normally watch science fiction. Jodie Foster’s performance is amazing. I cannot believe that she was overlooked for any Oscar mention for this. It is a tour de force. She is well balanced by Matthew McConaughey as an edgy, forward thinking priest.
- Jeremiah5 dni temuJust a lot of big and challenging ideas packaged in a digestable amount. Its heady while always being understandable. IMO. The John Hurt stuff was so bombastic and hammy, it felt like it was from a different movie. Didn't ruin anything for me though.

- Richard20 października 2025Saw this one in the cinema, back when sci-fi still dared to be quiet, philosophical and emotionally grounded. Bought it on DVD later, because some films deserve shelf space. Jodie Foster plays Ellie Arroway, a radio astronomer who intercepts the first extraterrestrial signal ever received on Earth. What follows isn’t alien warfare or space battles. it’s a global scramble to decode the message, build a mysterious machine and confront the meaning of belief, truth and human purpose. Robert Zemeckis directs with restraint and elegance. The visuals are clean, the pacing deliberate and the emotional beats land with surprising weight. Matthew McConaughey plays Palmer Joss, a spiritual counterpoint to Ellie’s scientific rigor. Their dynamic adds tension and warmth, especially as the film explores the uneasy marriage of faith and reason. The cast is stacked, John Hurt, Angela Bassett, James Woods, Tom Skerritt and William Fichtner all bring depth to a story that could’ve easily drowned in exposition. It’s ambitious, emotionally intelligent and quietly profound, with wormhole journeys, Pi mysteries and a final act that dares you to believe.

Also highlights another issue in the 90s with having people of mixed races in the main cast. The only issue i have with the film is the romance, it seemed forced and disconnected.
