God I feel sick and enraged….deranged. Renate Reinsve had to have been dehydrated for a week after filming those scenes Watching such a dolled up, objectively gorgeous woman bawl is….not fun! Might have just noticed how similar looking she is to a girl I had a fling with a decade ago and that does not help! Hilarious that I didn’t even realize that it’s the same actress from The Worst Person in the World and A Different Man smh Between this and The Innocents (2021, not 1961), Ellen Dorrit Petersen plays a concerned mother extremely well! Love how it’s beautifully shot on film. Love the typical ideas of emotional collectivity and community that continually permeate Scandinavian films!

Armand znowu sprawia kłopoty w szkole. Jego ekscentryczna matka (Renate Reinsve) zostaje wezwana na spotkanie z nauczycielką. Ku jej zdziwieniu, w szkole czekają na nią również rodzice innego chłopca. Nikt z obecnych nie wie, co tak naprawdę się wydarzyło. Ten (być może) drobny incydent między chłopcami jest niczym szpila, która przebija balon napięcia pomiędzy ich matkami. Dochodzi do eskalacji konfliktu, gdzie prawda miesza się z kłamstwem, a bohaterki rozpoczynają psychologiczną walkę o uwagę i zaufanie. Reżyser zamyka akcję w szkolnych salach i kilku godzinach, by stopniowo podnosić emocjonalną temperaturę, a jednocześnie stale zmienia tonację filmu: od dramatycznej, do komediowej.
