⭐⭐⭐ – A Sprinkle of Deceit: A Hannah Swensen Mystery – Comfort viewing with a light dusting of danger. At this point, the Hannah Swensen mysteries know exactly what they are. Cozy murders, warm kitchens, small-town gossip, and Hannah inevitably getting far more involved in investigations than any sensible baker probably should. A Sprinkle of Deceit doesn’t really try to reinvent that formula — it just serves up another helping. The mystery itself is decent enough, though not one of the stronger entries. The investigation moves along at a comfortable pace, but there’s never much sense of urgency or real danger hanging over things. You’re here more for the atmosphere and the returning characters than for edge-of-your-seat detective work. As always, the cast chemistry carries a lot of the appeal. Alison Sweeney slips comfortably back into Hannah, and the supporting cast continue to feel like familiar faces you’re checking in with rather than simply watching. That consistency is honestly part of the charm of these movies. Even weaker mysteries remain watchable because the world itself feels comfortable to return to. The downside is that this one blends into the larger Hannah catalogue a bit too easily. Once it was over, I didn’t find much sticking in my mind beyond the usual cosy vibes and small-town intrigue. Nothing bad, nothing offensive — just not especially memorable compared to the better entries in the series. Still, if you already enjoy Hannah Swensen mysteries, this absolutely scratches the itch. Sometimes you don’t need groundbreaking television. Sometimes you just want murder, muffins, and mildly suspicious neighbours. ☕ A cinnamon latte beside a tray of cookies — warm, pleasant, and familiar enough that you know exactly what you’re getting.
