Jennifer Garner is pitch-perfect as Jenna Rink, a 13-year-old girl who wakes up in her 30-year-old body after wishing to be “thirty, flirty, and thriving.” What follows is a light, funny, and surprisingly touching exploration of the gap between who we think we want to be and who we actually are. Mark Ruffalo plays the childhood friend turned adult almost-romance with his usual quiet charm, and together they sell the nostalgia that gives the story its pull. Yes, it’s predictable — every beat lands exactly where you expect — but it’s that predictability that makes it work. Kinda makes me want to rethink my actions in the past almost. Glad she had magic to where she was able to not be so mean when she got old the second time!
