Young children love watching, playing with and learning about animals – whether they are animals in the wild, animals at a farm or zoo or a family pet. Each day Play School concentrates on a different animal – lions on Monday, elephants on Tuesday, polar bears on Wednesday, tigers on Thursday and gorillas on Friday. We show a film of this animal in the wild, and look at the way it moves, looks, the noises it makes, and how it cares for its young.

Animals: MondayJustine and Jay make a cereal box computer to view pictures of animals. They make butterfly paintings by folding paper in half and spreading the paint. Through the windows there is Japanese drumming.

Animals: TuesdayJustine and Jay make noses and ears for the toys to dress up as elephants and sing "One Grey Elephant". Jemima is dressed as a monkey with an elasticised tail, ears on a headband and a painted box face. For Humpty, an elasticised shaggy wool mane turns him into a lion. Darcy becomes a zebra with a piece of stripy material over his body. Justine and Jay perform the story of "Jinty the Elephant". Through the windows is a doctor's surgery.

Animals: WednesdayKaren and Teo have a party with the toys. They make swirly paintings with shaving cream. Teo makes flowers using the painted paper and cotton wool with straw stems. Through the windows, there are children gardening.

Animals: ThursdayKaren and Teo use squares of yellow, blue, and orange paper to fold and create a blue stingray and bat, a yellow dog, and an orange tiger face, which is added to the tiger body on the Calendar. Teo folds a piece of spotty paper, and attaches some elastic through a loop, to create a bow tie for Big Ted. Karen folds a piece of yellow paper in half, tears a round shape, makes an opening and creates a skirt for Jemima.

Animals: FridayKaren and Jay make a caterpillar platter. They make a sheep pen for Sam the lamb. Through the windows there are sheep being herded by a sheep dog. Karen and Jay perform the story of "The Very Crowded Tree House" using the toys.
