Creature Commandos
Honestly, a ton of fun. Excited to see what they make of a second season
Honestly, kind of a miss. The first 4 episodes are great, but once episode 5 opens, I realized there wasn't enough time to fully explore everything that had been setup. Those last 3 episodes feel so rushed and half-assed, it's really disappointing. It felt like they had a great idea for a mystery but never came up with a conclusion to that mystery that made sense so they just brute-forced their way out. Needed like three more episodes to fully flesh out a kind of nonsensical narrative. Also some pretty cringe dialogue.
James Gunn knocks it out of the park in the DC world. The characters are weird, sexy, violent and bazaar. Love, love, love the back stories of all the main characters. The first episode starts off a little slow and a bit on the amateurish side, but Mr. Gunn seemed to see that and shifted into high ludicrous gear from the second episode on. Soooooo Wirth the watch…Do NOT miss this one!
The first new DCU series out the gate is James Gunn’s wacky and ultra violent Creature Commandos. It isn’t horrible but it’s also not very memorable. The series suffers from some narrative inconsistencies and underdeveloped plot threads. The voice cast does a good enough job with the material they have to work with but it isn’t much. The animation varies from ugly to so-so. Overall it’s not a bad series. It’s just a very underwhelming one.
