After seven months have passed without a culprit in her daughter's murder case, Mildred Hayes makes a bold move, painting three signs leading into her town with a controversial message directed at Bill Willoughby, the town's revered chief of police. When his second-in-command Officer Jason Dixon, an immature mother's boy with a penchant for violence, gets involved, the battle between Mildred and Ebbing's law enforcement is only exacerbated.

It doesn't matter if I've seen similar stories before, it doesn't matter if everything is mathematically logical – what matters is HOW it is told and performed, and what impression the film makes on me. That's the magic of cinema.

Incredible film. So many master class performances here. Having spent a good chunk of time living in rural Missouri this felt authentic. The acceptance of racism, bigotry, and violence as “just the way things are” is spot on. Chief Willoughby is the perfect example of this. He’s a mostly decent man that shows compassion and empathy, while turning a blind eye to racism and brutality in his department. It’s such an unsettling mix you would see daily, that I could never come to terms with. The story is sobering, with an ending that offers little satisfaction. Much like real life, sometimes no matter how hard you try you don’t get the outcome you want, or even worse, no real resolution at all.

Don’t know since I couldn’t fish wash it. I had to restart it four times and it still couldn’t finish. Stopped halfway through.

This film is so smart at being able to keep you at the edge of your seat from simple things that they plug into the film. Heartbreaking and tense situations in the first half of the film come back in some shape or form that leave you questioning what is going to happen. There was genuinely no predicting what the characters were going to do and how they would react to certain events. This unpredictability doesn't just apply to situations, but possibly more notable in character arcs.

A sharp, darkly funny movie with great performances and some seriously intense moments. Frances McDormand is amazing, and the writing hits hard when it wants to. But the tone jumps around a lot, and some character arcs feel messy instead of meaningful. It’s bold and memorable, just not always as focused or satisfying as it could be. Worth watching, but not flawless.

Loved it, bit slow burn reminded me of a Coen brothers movie.

Raw, Furious, and Deeply Human "Three Billboards: Outside Ebbing, Missouri" is a powerful, uncompromising film that hits with emotional force and lingers long after it ends. It's messy, angry, funny, tragic, and profoundly human - a story that refuses easy answers and thrives in moral gray zones. The writing is razor-sharp, balancing biting dark humor with devastating emotional weight. Dialogue feels alive, often brutal, and painfully honest. The film doesn't guide you toward comfort; instead, it confronts you with grief, rage, and the consequences of unresolved pain, letting its characters clash in ways that feel both shocking and deeply authentic. Performances are extraordinary across the board. Frances McDormand is nothing short of phenomenal, delivering a performance fueled by fury, sorrow, and unbreakable resolve. Sam Rockwell brings surprising depth and complexity to a deeply flawed character, while the supporting cast adds texture and humanity to every corner of the story. Each performance feels essential, never ornamental. Direction and tone are handled with remarkable confidence. The film shifts seamlessly between humor and tragedy without undermining either, maintaining a steady emotional grip throughout. It's visually restrained but purposeful, allowing the performances and writing to remain front and center. "Three Billboards: Outside Ebbing, Missouri" isn't a comfortable watch, nor is it meant to be. It's challenging, provocative, and emotionally bruising - a film that dares to sit with pain rather than resolve it neatly. A bold, unforgettable piece of cinema that fully earns its impact.

This was quite the drama. I personally like Sam Rockwell and Francis M. greatly. They both did a stand up job. This movie was very welcoming in a time of strange stories being played out in our country. I am not sure if this is a true story or not, but I was very engaged throughout the whole show. I will not spoil the ending, but the wife and I were like wha…….

Film is enjoyable. Has those moments of authenticity all good movies do. Although the ratings I am seeing are sightly inflated and they could have invested a little more in the ending. 6.6/10 This is non-negotiable.

So much is said and communicated in this movie without dialogue, it's very impressive. And the dialogue that is spoken, is excellent. Great cinematography and performances. Martin McDonagh has quickly cemented himself as an A-tier director and can't wait to see what he does after Banshees.
