The story is solid, packed with humor, and the action—while dated—was great for its time. The performances across the board were top-notch.

The gender roles, once played for laughs, now feel dated, especially the infamous “dragging through town” scene, which reads far differently today. Yet at the heart of it all is Mary Kate’s demand to be seen and respected, something that gives the film its emotional weight. Though a product of its time, it remains a rich and affecting portrait of love, pride, and finding your place.
