Pretty good film like the first and just as funny, tackles more serious topics that the duo has to tackle with.

I just watched Ted 2 again and I would give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. This sequel brings back everything that made the first movie great and cranks up the ridiculousness even more. It is packed with hilarious jokes outrageous moments and the same over the top humor that only Seth MacFarlane can pull off. If you liked the first movie you are going to have a blast with this one. The story follows Ted fighting for his rights as a person while still getting into all kinds of insane situations with John. It is the perfect setup for another round of crude humor and wild adventures. Even though the plot is a little out there it actually works really well and gives the movie a little more depth than just being joke after joke. Mark Wahlberg and Seth MacFarlane as John and Ted are just as funny as ever. Their chemistry is what makes this movie work. Every conversation between them feels natural even when they are talking about the dumbest things possible. You can tell Wahlberg is completely committed to playing off of a CGI teddy bear and somehow it all works perfectly. One of the best parts of Ted 2 is Amanda Seyfried as Samantha. She steps in as the new female lead and actually adds a lot to the movie. Her character is fun likable and gets in on the craziness just as much as John and Ted. Her dynamic with them brings some fresh energy to the sequel and makes it feel different enough from the first movie. The humor is exactly what you would expect from Seth MacFarlane. It is crude offensive and completely unfiltered. There are moments where you will laugh so hard that you miss the next joke. Whether it is pop culture references slapstick comedy or just completely random humor there is never a dull moment. The movie also has some of the funniest cameos ever. I will not spoil them but if you are a fan of MacFarlane’s style you will definitely appreciate the unexpected appearances. Visually the CGI on Ted is just as impressive as in the first movie. He feels like a real character and the way he interacts with the world around him never looks fake. Whether he is sitting at a bar arguing with John or running from trouble everything about him is animated so well that you forget he is not actually there. The pacing is great. There are no slow moments and every scene either moves the story forward or delivers another hilarious joke. It never feels like the movie is dragging which is impressive considering how many comedies struggle with that. The only reason I would not give this a full 5 out of 5 is that some of the jokes go on a little too long and not every gag hits as hard as the first movie. There are a few moments that feel like they are trying a little too hard to shock the audience instead of just being funny. But even with that the majority of the movie is hilarious from start to finish. Overall Ted 2 is a fantastic sequel that keeps the fun going. It is crude chaotic and completely over the top in the best way possible. If you loved the first movie this one is absolutely worth watching. I had a great time with it and I will definitely be watching it again.

🐻 More fun with Ted and Johnny (Mark Wahlberg) that follows interestingly on from the first film: this one has a much more linear plot, and is less funny, perhaps, less a series of set pieces, and a bit more serious in its undertones (but not that much). It still feels pretty anarchic, flagging up racial equality and gay rights as a parallel to Ted's plight to be recognised as a human being and not just 'property', but at the same time having a running gag about black men and also a fairly unflattering portrait of two gay men. Its heart is in the right place, but without being hidebound by political correctness, in other words, it gets an intelligent balance. It is fairly stuffed with big names making cameos, while Wahlberg is as delightful as before, with a touch of the overgrown kid about him, who takes a sideways slice from the Starship Enterprise ... ; Amanda Seyfried plays the love interest with a legal mind, and Ted is brilliantly pitched by the co-writer and director Seth MacFarlane. The first one was just a bit crazier, but this is a very worthy sequel that moves into Galaxy Quest territory before coming back to Earth with some playful bending of the narrative of the first film as it bounces some of the same balls ...

I don’t really see the need for the sequel. The film had funny parts but just seems a bit unnecessary. They could’ve built on the relationship with Kunis but ultimately decided to end it outside of the film. Still laughed at parts but definitely doesn’t live up to the first.
