Superman must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as reporter Clark Kent. As the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way he soon finds himself in a world that views these as old-fashioned.
- RipLinesMan12. mai 2025Bro Event Horizon (1997) had Sam Neill goin full nightmare mode, cuttin out his own eyes while Laurence Fishburne tried to hold a cursed crew together on a ship that literally opened a gateway to hell. It was pure chaos and regret, bro. Superman hits just as hard but flips the whole thing, instead of fear and madness, it’s heart, hope, and someone actually fighting to pull people outta the fire. David Corenswet brings that same heavy leadership vibe as Fishburne, but he’s calm, kind, and built different. Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor gives off big Sam Neill energy, all smart and twisted, like he’s two bad decisions away from tearing open the fabric of reality just to prove a point. Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane? Bro she’s tougher than half the Event Horizon crew and smarter than the rest, and she never flinches. The story goes deep on who Superman is, what he stands for, and why the world needs him even when it doesn’t understand him. James Gunn cooked a wild one; action, emotion, legacy, all of it. Five stars bro. When Event Horizon opened a gateway to hell, Superman shows up in this one to fly straight through it and shut it down.
- Joel8. juli 2025Marvel losing James Gunn to DC will go down as one of the biggest fumbles of all time. He just gets it man. This is what Superman should be. It’s bright, colorful, funny, and full of heart. Every character has such a distinct personality and look that feels ripped straight out of a comic. The score of course is great. John Murphy + the classic John Williams theme = peak. And Gunn really holds back on using pop music for most of this film, but the few needle drops really worked for me. I’m kinda all onboard for what Gunn is building at DC. This world is so fantastical and I’m ready to explore many more stories in it. He cooked.
- rg9400-14 tSuperman had some really strong moments, and unfortunately, a ton of really weak moments. While the movie has a very clear overarching narrative, it stitches together a variety of vignettes that feel fairly distinct. It is definitely overstuffed, and a large part of that is the inclusion of the Justice Gang, a way for Gunn to shoehorn his silly ensemble cast into the movie to make it more in line with his other superhero content. Outside of Mr. Terrific, these characters create a ton of tonal whiplash and at times actually detract from the character moments for Superman. I felt like they took a moment that should have 100% belonged to him and gave it to them, at the expense of the movie. They aren't the only silly moments in the movie, with a lot of it feeling almost like a Marvel movie where comedic relief undercuts tension. I get that DC movies have been traditionally dark and dour, and Gunn wanted to break that mold and give us something zany and weird. Unfortunately, it is too far in the other direction and simply does not fit with the story he wants to tell. I highlight all of these negatives because they act against the best parts of the movie. This Superman actually has an interesting emotional core, and I liked the political messaging. There are some really heartfelt moments built on his earnestness. Though I will not write home about any of the acting, I do think the core of Corenswet, Brosnahan, and Hoult inhabit their characters well. The score is phenomenal and easily the best part of the movie. The cinematography is unique. There are lots of weird angles, close-up zooms onto character faces, and quick swivels. I watched the movie really up close and from the side, and in some regards, that helped because it actually offset the unusual stylistic choices. I honestly hated the look of it, but I respect it for trying something unique instead of the standard bland blockbuster style. That's the disappointing part of this movie though. It had the potential to be truly great, but it is bogged down by Gunn's indulgent need to showcase his comic book knowledge and overstuff his movies to the brim. A focused movie that amplified the best parts of this one would have actually stood out. However, as it is, Superman 2025 ends up feeling rather average and similar to this year's Thunderbolts. I think our baseline for superhero movies is just so low now, but this is far from an all-timer movie.

- GREEN.ROOM11. juli 20255/5 STARS!!!! This piece of cinema is PHENOMENAL! Every bit of this movie felt accurate to who/what Superman truly is. Even the other characters (i.e. Lois Lane, Green Lantern,) just felt right. This can be the building blocks for a new future for the DC universe cinematically!
- Tiffie Starchild10. juli 2025Full disclaimer: this is my first Superman movie. I KNOW! I was in disbelief, too! I was like there’s no possible way that I’ve gone my entire life without seeing THEE Clark Kent shoot lasers and strip in telephone booths on the big screen. But then I ran the math back and fam.. I’m afraid it’s true. THAT BEING SAID - I totally get the Superman hype now! How can you see this character in action and NOT believe in hope and truth and being the absolute best human being (or alien refugee, in his case) that you can be? And this version of Superman has dimples?! Nah, fam, sign me up for the fan club immediately. Do we pay dues? Are there weekly meetings? Lex Luthor is HILARIOUS. Why is that man so obsessed?! And then - how is he SO obsessed but still not clocking that Superman is Clark Kent?! All that money and you can’t even stalk right, what’s the point?! Without giving anything away, all of the villains (including Lex’s weird ass) were dope and incredibly well-played. I have no idea how accurate they are to the comics, but I know that overall this film was fun and amazing and emotional and funny. It was just really, really good entertainment. Do I even go back and watch all 511 Superman movies or am I already at the proverbial mountaintop, like, does it even get any better than this? Also, I would die for Krypto 🐶 Incoming spoiler reviews incoming on my other socials. Same name - y’all know where to find me 💕
- Kit Lazer8. juli 2025What a Terrific movie. Right up my Lane. Even the Krypto bros are going to love it. Just a Super flick to this Guy. Solidly Engineered, heart warming, funny, will surely be added to the great superhero movie Lexicon. Sorry, I meant pantheon. Just a true Metamorphosis from the Snyderverse. … … Hawkgirl.
- Megan Cruz23. juli 2025People keep telling me I hated this movie. I didn’t. There’s so much I loved about this world and these characters. I think this film is fun, and earnest, and beautiful (not aesthetically unfortunately), but has a flawed and chaotic structure that doesn’t give its incredible characters enough room to totally flourish. The interview scene with Lois & Superman is, however, one of the most delightful things I’ve ever seen and Mr. Terrific is my hero. Is this movie a big mess of ugly cgi, bloated with too many half baked ideas? In my opinion, absolutely it is. Is it also an absolutely awesome time at the movies with characters I am completely invested in? Also yes.
- TomVader17. august 2025This new Superman film feels like a respectful and enjoyable tribute to the 1978 classic, not a direct copy or sequel. As a casual viewer, I was pleasantly surprised by how fun and entertaining it was, even with a few odd plot points and some moments that seemed a little forced. While I can see how some of the choices in the film might upset longtime fans, I personally enjoyed them. It's a solid and worthwhile film, even if you're not a Superman superfan.
