Jean Weiss runs a traditional, slow but perfectionist shoemaker's shop in a picturesque Alsatian town. When his cousin Jeanine comes claim her inherited share to fund a Berlin shoe-shop with groom of business convenience Rüdiger Walter, Jean abhors the idea of selling and even more her buyer, a soulless concrete developers firm, so he tries to temporize and insists to teach her the traditional métier.
