Shruti Seridaga is based on the novel by Kumuda and busts the myth of Astrology. Astrology charts mention that Dr. Murthy's first wife will die within a year of marriage. Learning this, Madvhavi's father, TN Balakrishna, cancels Madhavi's marriage to Murthy. Heartbroken Murthy eventually comes out of mourning and marries his teacher's daughter Geetha, who goes on leave for a year and delivers a baby. Purandara Dasa's rhyme sakala grahabala neene sarasijaaksha (God graces each man much more than the planets ever would) is pronounced as the theme.
