Extinction is the first in the Resident Evil franchise to truly deviate from the source material. Freed from these creative constraints the arbiters of this franchise decided.....to ape Road Warrior?!?! Interesting direction for sure. And at first, it kind of works?!?!? Until it falls back into the inane stupidity of that this series has established from the beginning. I feel like Mila Jovovich has really started to find her groove with the Alice character in this one, and her performance is truly the highlight of this film. A few individually cool scenes like when she gets kidnapped by some survivors or when they their caravan gets attacked at a motel we're a highlight of this film. I almost forgot to mention that the audio design gets a big bump up in quality, too! Everything else is just as messy as the first two films. Plotting, writing, you name it!

This was basically more of the same from the last movie, but with a Mad Max vibe. It was an unexpected choice that’s for sure, but I can’t lie, it was pretty cool. Mad Max zombie apocalypse. Alice is basically a superhero at this point, and I’m not sure how I feel about that. Carlos was the MVP of the movie. I wasn’t expecting to see so many characters from the games, and Claire was a fun addition. She’s not really at all like the Claire from the games but I guess that should be expected by now. Overall, a fun desert zombie movie that kept me entertained. Final boss was kinda lack luster especially how the fight ended. Oh well, guess we’re going to Japan next!?

Like mad max but with zombies also pay no attention to the continuity of these films theyre fun zombie movies.

What an insult to the Resident Evil name. This is a bad Mad Max clone with zombies. God awful but has some nice action sequences.

Resident Evil: Extinction drags itself across the desert like it’s searching for meaning but forgot to pack a script—meanwhile, Event Horizon (1997) plunges straight into madness with purpose and pain. Alice is still doing slo-mo kicks like a malfunctioning action figure, while characters like Claire Redfield and Carlos Oliveira barely register next to the raw, haunted presence of Captain Miller or the deranged brilliance of Dr. Weir; it’s not extinction we’re witnessing—it’s cinematic entropy in real time.

Of the first three films in this franchise, this one seems to be the best. It even has a nice post-apocalyptic vibe to it – there’s a bit of a Mad Max feel to it – though the poor CGI is still a bit of an eyesore.

Creature effects for Dr Isaac's were pretty cool

Stylish but Shallow "Resident Evil: Extinction" continues the franchise with its trademark blend of action, horror, and sci-fi, this time moving the story into a more apocalyptic, desert setting. Visually, it works quite well - the scorched landscapes, ruined cities, and survivalist vibes give the film a distinct look compared to its predecessors. The action sequences are stylish and often fun to watch, with Milla Jovovich once again carrying much of the film through her presence and commitment. That said, the movie suffers from the same flaws that drag down the series as a whole. The script is thin, with dialogue that often feels forced and characters that rarely rise above clichés. The pacing is uneven, sometimes rushing through moments that could have had more impact while stretching out others unnecessarily. It's enjoyable enough if you're looking for a flashy, popcorn-style zombie action flick, but it lacks the depth or tension to really elevate it beyond that.

Resident Evil: Extinction was trying to be something. I don't know what it was, and I doubt it knew either. Overall, not the most horrible movie I've seen by a long shot. That said, the action was good enough to keep me going. And Ali Larter, one of my all-time Hollywood crushes. My God, what a woman.

First one was legendary but down hill after that.

    LJ 😭 CARLOS 😭

Absolutely terrible series of movies. They bear no resemblance to the game nor do they do a good job of being a movie in their own right. It's like the most half-assed effort all around.
