Controversial and Provocative. Absorbing and Affecting. Privately tormented priests with progressive ideals trying to live and work within the ultra-conservative framework of the Roman Catholic Church. Morals and ethics are placed on the altar of judgement and we are the congregation. Tom Wilkinson gives a marvelous performance in a movie that created an uproar. Many sought to ban it, but thankfully failed. The film is still relevant today and still really good on any day.
