The goal: 10 wins to be able to legally invade the losing Realm. Outworld has so far collected 9 wins against Earthrealm, so it's up to Lord Rayden and his fighters to stop Outworld from reaching the final victory.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa’s performance as Shang Tsung is particularly standout; his menacing presence and the now-iconic delivery of “Your soul is mine!” make him one of the most memorable villains in video game movie history. The fight choreography is another highlight. The film embraces its martial arts roots, delivering entertaining, well-staged battles that feel true to the game. Say what you will about director Paul WS Andersons other films (Resident Evil; Monster Hunter) but his MK film is still the best of the franchise.

- gmrxbox15. oktober 2024The definition of dumb, cheesy fun that knows exactly what it is and doesn't get too caught up in the details. Well-paced, and the special effects are actually occasionally impressive, which I did not expect to say. A strong contender for best Video Game Adaptation (which is not a tough field to win). Watch the first five minutes of the sequel afterward, and you'll understand what a disaster this movie could have been.
