- keithdavis24726. september 2025I always loved John Wayne movies growing up. This is a fantastic movie. A different side from the Indian fighting westerns. Maureen O’Hara was phenomenal in her role. Just a great fun movie to watch.

It wears its era proudly, from the Technicolor charm to the gender roles that haven’t aged well. What once played as playful banter between Wayne and O’Hara now lands with a more uncomfortable edge, especially the film’s infamous spanking scene, which was meant for laughs but feels jarring today. Still, the movie gives both stars ample space to showcase their chemistry and charisma, even if the story surrounding them is dated.
