- Jay Marie Bailey-6 d.I watched this at the cinema around the time of release but I was in a different place back then and while I thought it was OK I wasn't blown away. Having watched it again I had very little recollection of the movie (only able to recall the bit behind the bookshelf for some reason). I've now watched this twice in the space of a few months and will likely watch it again sometime soon. It is a very thought provoking story given the amazing Nolan treatment. The main cast is fantastic even the voice actors for TARS & CASE. The score is another level and gives me chills every time I hear it. If I had to pick one movie that is the only movie I can watch for the rest of my life this would be it. The journey you go on is a rollercoaster. If you haven't watched it just do, if you have just watch it again.
- Varun13. desember 2024Watched the IMAX rerelease and was completely blown away. I was speechless after the movie was done. I saw the movie 10 years ago at age 15 in a regular theatre and it had a huge impact on my life. As a teenager I really loved the final lesson on love, but it was like a wisdom cookie that I liked and accepted as a piece of knowledge, but hadn’t fully experienced and understood in my soul. It’s only in 2019 when I experimented with ego dissolving substances and then later watching lectures on love and reality by the philosopher J. Krishnamurti that I finally realised deep down in my soul that love truly was beyond space and time. Love to me is the same as God, a single unifying force that holds the fabric of the universe together, that exists within everything. One is All, All is One. It’s a dimension that is both immanent and transcendent, and human beings are capable of tapping into its sphere through various means. In this movie, that means is explored through the lens of physics and space, two things that have also been absolutely fundamental in changing the trajectory of my life and belief systems, it was the impetus for my disbelief in religion and God but also my eventual return back to spirituality. And I would absolutely credit Interstellar for sparking that push to meditate on these concepts, and also for providing help with some visual imagery to wrestle with these hard topics. The depictions and scenery in this film are jaw droppingly gorgeous and unforgettable, it’s bound to stay in your conscious mind for a long time. I know I wasn’t the same after this experience. And of course, Hans Zimmer delivering the best movie score of all time, makes me so emotional every single time and also feel a profound sense of hope in life. The sound design in IMAX was perfect. The actions scenes are also really good, felt like I was out of my seat multiple times. I do have a little bit of a gripe with a few character and story moments, they were sacrificed in service of the bigger picture. But overall I think it tells a very special story about the human struggle in this infinite cold universe and it’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen, completely worth rewatching it in IMAX, it’s almost a religious experience.
- James Saenz31. mai 2026“it was you; you were my ghost.” this is a review from when i got to rewatch it in imax back in september of 2024. a decade ago i was a freshman in college. my dorm neighbors - and new college best friends - and i went to watch this film in imax; it was a tremendous, formative experience. as we left the theater we were electric, brimming with the excitement and fervor that only a truly singular piece of art can elicit. we went home that night enraptured by the power of love, the indomitability of the human spirit, and the infinite possibilities born through science. we couldn’t stop babbling about it on the way home and long after we got there, too engrossed in our feelings and inquisitive thoughts. it’s one of a multitude of sentimental moments from college that i look back fondly on. tonight, a decade later, i watched this same film on its anniversary rerelease on that very same imax screen. the college version of me no longer exists; those old college friends are lost to the ebb and flow life. i have different friends now, ones that have become family well into adulthood. we shared this night much in the same way as the first one i had all those years ago. i walked away full of vigor, renewed in my belief in love and life and the bonds shared between people. college me is the ghost of my current self, and i am the ghost of my eventual future. this film is a love letter, a connection that spans time and space between all of us, an anchor for my memories and the people i have loved. and that is a blessing.
