- jackmeat4. april 2025My quick rating - 6.6/10. I personally enjoyed this one a lot. It was a good use of coincidence and bringing something that is plausible to occur. I also believe there are black spots like this now and ready to be used if need be. Who knows. Gerald Butler is the father who is doing everything he can to get his family to safety when an apocalyptic event is on its way. And when this meteor hits the Earth, it is all over unless you are chosen to be filtered into these bunkers to rebuild the planet after the annihilation. This movie focuses on getting there at all costs and avoiding everyone who is NOT chosen as well. Overall, it was just really well done, from scenes and locations to camera work, down to the individual characters they meet along the way. It definitely would've done well at the box office as it had all you would need for a semi-successful flick. Check it out when you get a chance; you would be let down.
- Tyler Campbell21. januar 2026The US ceded interest in Greenland officially, on paper, in the Treaty of The Danish West Indies in 1917, giving up any claim to the country and accepting Danish sovereignty over it, in exchange for what is now the US Virgin Islands.. Oh sorry, that's not what this movie is about. Greenland, the movie, is a decent end-of-the-world flick with Gerard Butler. A large comet is coming toward earth and everyone has been anxiously awaiting its benign atmospheric break up. Except that the government, for the first time in history, has lied to its people. The comet is actually going to destroy most life on the planet and only some have been chosen to get to a bunker 🤷 It's not a massive absurd action flick like 2012 with John Cusack driving a limousine over an actively crumbling city during tectonic disintegration. So don't go in expecting that. Greenland does a great job in the first half, drawing on the dread and panic that would happen in the event of an extinction level event. Although action is present, it focuses more on the human components. For me, it lost its steam somewhere along the way. But it's still worth a watch. The child is a pretty bad actor and was some okay accidental comedic relief as a result. I was happy to see Greenland 2 has the kid from Jojo Rabbit replacing him. I'll check it out.
- augustido18. mai 2026“Greenland” is without a doubt the greatest disaster movie ever made. Not only because of its intense tension and spectacular scenes, but especially for the way it tells a deeply emotional story about family, survival, and the rebirth of a broken relationship. A powerful and human film that reminds us what truly matters when the world is falling apart.
- James Saenz12. april 2026the most middling a disaster film can be; not bad, but not memorable, and by virtue of its forgettable nature it’s ultimately far less interesting than its premise. it hits all of the same beats that past disaster films have, but lacks any originality in the filmmaking or storytelling. it’s carried by the leads’ performances, and yet i’ll probably forget a majority of it by tomorrow.
- BEAULONEA17. februar 2026Holy cow, talk about an overwhelming feeling of despair. Greenland does an effective job of capturing just how fragile everything feels when faced with a global catastrophe. I shouldn't be, but I’m always struck by how quickly society unravels in these stories, and this film doesn’t shy away from the chaos. I enjoyed it, even if there were a few story beats that didn’t quite land for me. Some moments felt a little forced or convenient, but the emotional weight carried most of the film. It’s depressing to think something like this could edge toward reality, but that grounded fear is also what makes it so gripping.
- Big Hulky11. februar 2026Midland. { Spoilers Below } Basically, nothing happens. The Garrity family gets picked for bunkers in Greenland, and as they're about to get on the plane their son says he NEEDS his oh-so-comfy blanky, and obviously that's WAY more important than their lives, so the father (John) heads back to their vehicle to get it. In this time: 1. The Garrity family gets separated. 2. The kid gets abducted. 3. The abduction takes Alison back to the airport. 4. They leave for their father-in-law's house (as a location to meet up with John). 5. They go to an airfield for unauthorized extraction. And then you notice the movie is 80% over. Some other diarrhoea: 1. The Garrity family ends up in Greenland (which hasn't been destroyed at all yet), the second we see it, it gets hit with a comet for dramatic effect. 2. Nathan says "My friend Teddy says 'your life flashes in front of your eyes when you die'", so we get a flashback of John's life with Alison as the thicc comet boi lands on the surface. The movie just throws predictable scenes at you over, and over.
