- James Saenz23. april 2026“you’re not real. you’re only made of moonlight.” what do you mean there’s a black lodge doppelgänger of the giant/fireman from twin peaks going freaky style on her feet? very disturbing and upsetting subject matter, but i do still have an appreciation for flanagan’s ability to inject sentimentality and sincerity into his storytelling. this is ultimately a story of the responsibility we have to victims, a story of confrontation with trauma and making active choices to heal and be kind to your younger self, all while in the midst of the abuse and gore. does the extremely disappointing coda kind of tarnish the rest of the film? yes, but its main focus is centered around those themes so it’s not entirely without merit.
