My Overall thoughts & analysis of First Knight: 👇 (First Knights Plus Points) 👉 Jerry Goldsmith's Score is absolutely fantastic throughout the whole film and really does elevate it a lot. The acting from Richard Gere as Lancelot, Sean Connery as King Arthur & Ben Cross as Maligant are great. The three of them all look and play there parts so so well. The whole scenery throughout the whole movie is breathtaking to look at. The battle scenes are very solid. Also the costume designs are all top tier especially the knights they got that spot on. It goes at just the right pace, not too long or too short, just right 👌 I loved the look of "Camelot" in this film as well, I thought they done a damn good job with that. I really appreciated that we got to know a lot of the other Knights of the round table just enough; some more than others but all of there presence was there throughout the whole film. (The Stuff I'm Very Divided On) 👉 As much as I really enjoyed watching the battle scenes! However at the same time, I can see some people watching this now for the first time and being a bit disappointed; with the lack of actual violence, there's no limbs or heads coming off or anything like that, its not gruesome at all like Braveheart or Gladiator. You can 💯 see why it was rated as a PG. Also I think any actress in and around that time, could have easily played Lady Guinevere, Julia Ormand is fine in the role but doesn't make it her own. (My Main Criticisms Of First Knight) 👉 At times when your watching the film and it is very few and far between to be fair; but you can totally see from a few shots, that you are looking at a green screen a 💯 But what annoyed me the most was the illogical bullshit with how 🚨🚨🚨 SPOILER 🚨🚨🚨 Maligant and his army was able to break into Camelot in the last act of the film. They should have gone about that in a different way because; realistically speaking I don't believe for a single second, that Arthur would have kept his fortress totally open like that to a potential attack. All because he didn't want to hide in shame over Lancelot & Lady Guinevere's moment of madness. Your at "WAR" and your letting people in, knowing that anyone of them could be one of Maligants followers. I'm sorry but I don't buy for a single second, that Arthur would put his whole fortress at risk like that. They clearly had to cut corners here; with how do we from point (B) to point (C) and for me "YES" have the last battle and final showdown take place in Camelot; that's not what I'm saying but how it all happens and how we get there, is what I have the issue with. But Overall: First Knight is the hidden gem, of the sword & sandal sub-genre. And 💯 deserves a lot more recognition purely for what it is. This is a film, I really would recommend to people, that are fans of the swords & sandal sub-genre. But just don't expect bloody violence that's all, just enjoy it for what it is. And you'll really enjoy it!! My Personal Rating for First Knight is a very strong 8.25/10

audiences who see the then 65-year-old. Brilliant Brilliant film, spectacular scenery, fantastic cast! Such terrific talent by Sir Sean Connery and Richard Gere, Ben Cross, and Julia Ormond was the greatest actress in this film....I recommend this film to anyone to watch who once believed in the Legend and in the magic of King Arthur and his Knights in an adult fashion. Fun for all the family! I can and will watch this movie over and over again, it's that good. And a lot of life gems dropped

Very good movie overall. One of the best performance from Sean Connery. His speech about Camelot was inspiring. The other supporting characters did right to their parts as well. The only thing I didn't enjoy and which is why I substracted a star, is the knights' armor. They look too new and shiny, as if they were just purchased on a customs store. It detracts from the the setting and the story, and sometimes broke the immersion for me.

This is one of my favorite movies! It shows Richard Geere at his best, and is one of Sean Connery's better films. Julia Ormond is fantastic in her portrayal of Guinivere, and the story is historically accurate. A great find for couples who want an action flick and a chick flick in the same night. The fighting scenes are not too gory, and the love scenes are not too graphic. The Fencing is PHENOMENAL! Richard Geere really looks like he knows what he is doing, and proves that he can fence several times in the film. The costuming is not my favorite, I would have liked to see Julia Ormond (who by the way has the perfect body for the role) in much lighter clothes, with more of a feminine feel, but then again, flowy feminine clothes were probably not historically accurate. The acting is superb, especially by Ormond, who was relatively unknown at the time. I hope everyone rents this film at least one time, it is worth the money, and it will quickly become your favorite!

Great acting in this film, other than Gere, who is more wooden than a toothpick factory. Besides that, this is overly pristine melodrama would have benefited from a bit more meat, and a bit more tooth.

I really wanted to like this one, but The First Knight just didn’t deliver. With a solid cast—Sean Connery as King Arthur, Richard Gere as Lancelot, and Julia Ormond as Guinevere—I thought it had potential. Unfortunately, the story is weak and boring, relying too heavily on the love triangle rather than exploring the epic nature of the Arthurian legend. The fight sequences are also disappointing, looking clunky and lacking intensity. It’s not a total waste, but it doesn’t offer much that’s memorable or exciting. A bit of a letdown
