- รҡ૨אρƭเ∂3. mars 2025I get real irritated when movies, particularly horror movies, have the actor doing things so absurdly stupid, unnatural, and offensive to coherent human thought just to create a dilemma. It was especially annoying with this film because they worked so hard in the beginning to earn your trust by not doing that. Unfortunately after all that they started making all the actors suddenly turn imbecile and that's when this movie lost me. What a waste. 3/10

The isolated setting amplifies the feeling of vulnerability, making every moment feel like a desperate struggle. The central cat-and-mouse dynamic between the protagonist and the killer is the heart of the story, and it’s executed with precision by directors Adam Schindler and Brian Netto. Both leads deliver compelling performances. Iris’s fight for survival is portrayed with raw intensity by Kelsey Asbille, capturing the physical and emotional toll of her ordeal. Meanwhile, the killer (Finn Wittrock) exudes a quiet menace, making every interaction between them fraught with danger. Their performances elevate what could have been a straightforward survival story into something much more engaging. The minimalist approach to storytelling works in the film’s favor. There are no unnecessary subplots or convoluted twists; instead, the focus remains squarely on the escalating tension and the protagonist’s will to survive. While this simplicity may leave you wanting more depth or backstory, it allows the film to fully explore its premise and maximize the impact of its core conflict. This movie doesn’t rely on flashy effects or elaborate set pieces. Instead, it leans into the physicality of the situation and the performances of its leads. This stripped-down approach makes the stakes feel immediate and real, even if the story doesn’t break new ground. Overall, this delivers a taut, well-acted thriller that kept me engaged from start to finish. While it may not reinvent the genre, it succeeds in creating an intense and memorable survival story that’s worth a watch for fans of minimalist horror and suspense.

I didn't know any of the actors involved, but they all put up a stirling job in this film which bobbed along nicely. Some of the plot was slightly far-fetched in the circumstances, but all in all, if you like films like the Hitchhiker [Rutger Hauer] and Breakdown [Kurt Russell], the chances are youre going to like this as well.

The cast delivers good performances that ground the film, bringing depth and believability to their roles, which adds a much-needed intensity to the otherwise familiar storyline. Each actor seems genuinely invested in their character's fear and vulnerability, which translates to a sense of realism that's often missing in horror and thriller. This commitment from the cast helps amplify suspense, even if the plot remains predictable. Visually, "Don't Move" does an excellent job creating a haunting, unsettling atmosphere. The set design is meticulously crafted, enhancing the feeling of confinement that the story demands. The cinematography takes advantage of these spaces well, using tight shots and darkened frames to bring viewers into the characters' headspace, capturing a sense of dread that permeates the setting. The continuous pressure of "time" amplifies the suspense and creates a constant sense of unsettlement, making each moment feel more urgent and perilous. The sound design and lighting work hand-in-hand to heighten the tension. The director skillfully builds suspense with subtle sound cues, creaks, and echoes, which enhance the film's scares. The movie uses silence effectively, creating an unsettling quiet that is only broken by sudden, jolting noises that land with more impact. Although "Don't Move" may not be innovative, it still manages to capture some classic horror thrills. In the end, it is a solid, atmospheric thriller that shines in its production quality and acting, offering enough suspense and chilling moments to make it worth a watch for genre fans.

- DJ30. oktober 2024Don’t Move is a cat and mouse thriller set mostly in the wilderness. It’s a kidnap film that focuses on the lead being drugged and not able to move/speak/etc. while also trying to get away from him. Yup, you read that right. Someone who can’t move and speak trying to get away from a kidnapper. Beyond the absurdity of that, it’s entertaining at least. Azrael was better though and kind of had the same premise.
