Aquaman is a solid film in the DCEU. Positives: - Visually this is one of the most gorgeous comic book movies ever made from the visually stunning cinematography to the great looking CGI and Green Screen this is what I call a stunning film - The entire story is pretty solid - The characters are likeable and have their motivations - The action sequences are definitely the highlight of the film for me because they are epic, awesome, and are super entertaining and engaging - I love the Atlantis I think it’s an awesome city - The soundtrack is pretty solid - The score is good - The adventure is fun Mixed: - The romance is pretty whatever for me - The performances were pretty meh for me as well Negatives: - The dialogue is laughably cringe - I wish they did more with Black Manta in this film - The movie over uses unexpected explosions - The Origen story for Aquaman is very rushed Overall Aquaman is one of the only few great movies in the DCEU.

Definitely one of the better movies in the DCEU, especially of the origin movies The underwater visuals are pretty but outside of that they are pretty spotty at times to me at times Story wise it’s not anything people haven’t seen but that’s not necessarily a bad thing The casting are good even if on paper Mamoa shouldn’t have been Aquaman but he’s probably the best casting as the main cast

Honestly a blast. It fully commits to the weird, comic-book side of things—big action, crazy underwater worlds, and just enough humor to keep it from feeling too heavy. You can tell it’s having fun with itself, which makes it easy to go along with. It drags a bit in places and not every part hits, but there’s so much going on that it rarely gets boring. Messy at times, sure, but in a way that still feels entertaining rather than frustrating.

⭐⭐⭐⭐½ – Aquaman - Salt, spectacle, and superhero confidence. Aquaman is exactly what it promises to be: big, bold, and unashamedly fun. This is escapist cinema done right — great performances, a clear heroic arc, and CGI that actually serves the story rather than drowning it. From the opening moments to the final clash, it commits fully to its world and never once looks embarrassed about its scale. Jason Momoa was the perfect choice to anchor this. His Arthur Curry has swagger, humour, and enough heart to stop the film tipping into hollow spectacle. He feels grounded even when the film absolutely is not. The supporting cast does solid work too, and while the story itself isn’t reinventing mythic storytelling, it doesn’t need to — it knows exactly what kind of ride it’s offering and delivers confidently. Visually, this is where Aquaman really shines. Atlantis feels alive, textured, and imaginative in a way that few superhero worlds manage. It’s colourful without being garish, epic without being exhausting. The action is clear, energetic, and consistently entertaining, making this one of the most watchable entries in the DCEU. More importantly, this film feels like DC finally realising it doesn’t need to live in the shadow of Superman and Batman to tell compelling stories. Aquaman stands comfortably on its own, proving that myth, humour, and spectacle can coexist without leaning into relentless darkness. The real-world controversies surrounding the cast may cloud its future, but as a standalone film, it holds up remarkably well. This is blockbuster filmmaking that understands escapism isn’t a flaw — it’s the point. 🥃 Drink Pairing Talisker Skye — coastal, peppery, and bright. Salt air, movement, and confidence in a glass. A whisky that mirrors the film’s sense of adventure without dragging things into the deep, dark abyss.

Suffers from the same issues as most of the modern superhero movies. Juvenile plot, cheap looking cgi, mediocre acting and a lot of boring filler content that leads nowhere.

Aquaman is a thrilling, visually stunning adventure that fully embraces its epic scale. Jason Momoa brings charm and energy to the role, while the underwater world of Atlantis is brought to life with spectacular visuals and action. With a solid story about identity and family at its core, the film is bold, fun, and hugely entertaining.

Aquaman (2018) is a vibrant, larger‑than‑life comic book adaptation that embraces its pulpy roots with enthusiasm. As a longtime fan of comics, seeing this world brought to the big screen is a genuine guilty pleasure. The action is bold and kinetic, the characters memorable, and the casting—especially Jason Momoa and Amber Heard—adds charisma and energy to the underwater epic. The story works on multiple levels, blending mythology, family conflict, and high‑stakes adventure into a surprisingly cohesive narrative. However, the script could have used a bit more refinement, particularly in its dialogue and pacing. The film also leans heavily on CGI, sometimes to the point of distraction, where more practical effects might have grounded the spectacle. Even so, Aquaman remains an entertaining, visually striking ride that captures the spirit of its source material and delivers a fun, imaginative blockbuster experience.
