Historically accurate? Hardly. The film’s roots in Frank Miller’s stylised comic make it clear that truth is secondary to spectacle. But the core — the defiance of a tiny force standing against impossible odds — still resonates. It’s primal storytelling done with operatic flair and visual style that defined a decade of action cinema.
